Time to tax some churches! Falwell to Hold Pro-Bush Seminar

RICHMOND, Va.  — Beset by groups questioning his ministry's tax-exempt status for urging President Bush's re-election, the Rev. Jerry Falwell (search) will hold a seminar next month to train conservative pastors "not to be intimidated by left-wing thugs."

Falwell's weekly newsletter invites conservative clergy to a "Politics and the Pulpit" conference Sept. 26-29 at Liberty University in Lynchburg. Falwell is the school's founder and president.

"Because this is an election year and because of the controversy over the right of churches to be involved in moral and social issues, we will have constitutional attorneys there to explain to pastors what they may and may not do," Falwell told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

Falwell's the real welfare mom. Tax his ass!

1. Is there any political pressure on the IRS from Congress on this?
I think it's time that we contact our people in Congress. This bullshit has got to stop.

2. This is what pisses me off about this.

His followers do nothing but ridicule programs set up to help the needy. Wasted tax money they say. Nothing but a free lunch.

Yet these guys use their tax exempt churches to campaign for these people. Nothing but hypocrites. And on top of that, he's going to train pastors on how to slip through the cracks.

Scroll down to "Some Churches Veer into Politics"

Sadly, even though it is illegal, the IRS doesn't do anything about it.

4. I've called my c ongressperson about this
because John Boozman (R AR) plans to introduce legislation making it LEGAL to do this junk. Since I'm an ordained minister, telling him that I believe in the seperation of church and state may have a slight impact.
