Kerry "playing up his war record"

I've been arguing with some wing-nuts on other boards today and I keep getting this line from them that Kerry is "playing up his war record", and that makes him "fair game" for smear attacks.



Am I wrong, or is that line a complete bunch of bullshit? How is Kerry "playing up his war record"? By reminding people that he volunteered to serve ??

12. I think I see in this "playing up his war record" makes it fair to lie

about him, and it is all lies. They did it to McCain, Max Clealand and now Kerry. The reason is that bush went AWOL and they have to do this to bring down these people, that has been so brave.
