A blatant lie in my local paper regarding Democratic ads
sent in anonymously by a reader, but the Charleston Daily Mail should fact check its letters before running them. They are responsible for the content of their paper, especially when its indisputably a smear attempt with no basis in fact

"One of the Democratic ads shows President Bush with a Hitler mustache. I must say that Howard Dean makes a much better Hitler, and he has the viciousness to go with it."

http://www.dailymail.com/news/Vent+Line/

if you'd like to call them on it, fire off a brief emailt to:
ventline@dailymail.com
put "vent line" in the subject

it may seem insignificant, but readership studies have shown this to be the most-read part of the conservative Daily Mail (and the Daily Mail is the 2ndd biggest paper in a swing state)

We shouldn't let this kind of stuff go witout a response

4. doesn't say
he's just making shit up

he's propably referring to the moveon.org contest entry, which makes him wrong on three counts

1. it wasn't an ad-it was a contest entry
2. it was moveon.org and not the Democrats
and 3. it didn't feature bush with a hitelr mustache

this is what happens to people when they rely on talk radio and rightwing papers for all of their news coverage. they have no connection to reality

btw, the daily mail goes out of its way to print as many anonymous letters from kerry bashers as it can, while ignoring democratic ones. the vent line usually is pro-GOP by a 5-1 margin

so flood 'em!

7. My letter and thanks so much for this link..
This is in response to the letter to the editor that says..
"One of the Democratic ads shows President Bush with a Hitler mustache. I must say that Howard Dean makes a much better Hitler, and he has the viciousness to go with it."
First of all there is no such ad, so to have this out there without being refuted is helping tospread a lie. And I know no responsible newspaper would do that.

And as for the writer's comment about Howard Dean..it just goes to show ya that this person has no idea who Howard Dean is. Does the person possibly get their information from talk radio?

Thank you,
zidzi,
New York

8. grrrr
In response to a letter in the "Vent Line"...and in response to those that thought it was smart to put it there...
"One of the Democratic ads shows President Bush with a Hitler mustache. I must say that Howard Dean makes a much better Hitler, and he has the viciousness to go with it."
Let me first say---as a newspaper, a reliable newspaper, you should be checking your facts. You find a Democratic ad--democratic, mind you, not some left wing rant photo--that shows Bush with a Hitler mustache. Your paper should be more responsible in checking it's facts before posting a nuts letters. Furthermore, its one thing to publish a disgruntled readers opinion of an ad. It's another to publish a disgruntled readers opinion--especially related to Hitler--about Howard Dean.
