2. There's nothing to see here.
Just move along now. There's a good Citizen. (All delivered in a brusque, official voice, naturally)

The economy - notwithstanding the official numbers - is not in good shape. We're spending as if there's no tomorrow. We produce, essentially, nothing - and we import almost everything.

We've got a war that I hope is ONLY a quagmire and not quick sand. Oil's price action suggests that Peak Oil is upon us. The social security generational disaster is being ignored.

So I suppose it's just as well that they give us entertainment and diversion. Reality will hit soon enough.

4. Don't worry too much, it's not going unnoticed
desite their best attempts at cover-up. Everyone I talk to seems to be worried about the state of the economy.

5. Those stories are more sensational and...

163 is still only about a 1% drop. The fact that it's under 10,000 is more symbolically significant. I think it will make more noise tomorrow if it closes under 10,000 going into a weekend.

9. I thought they were tapped.
I think part of the problem is that no one really knows what's going on.

6. They only report on a down market if they can blame it on a Democrat
Like when Kerry gives a big speech or gets nominated.

When it can't be blamed on a Democrat, it's not news.

That's the U.S. media.

8. Its all the fault of whistleass
I think it was because of Bush's speaking today. Seems everytime he gives a speach or some significant event that he makes comments on...like the 417Bil signing today, the stock market goes down. Anyone else notice that?

10. I was just going to post something similar...
All day they had the Albany, NY terrorist story as the lead story. I live and work in Albany, NY. At the office today, the talk was the slumping stock market and sinking 401k's. For the most part, people could give a rat's ass about the two arrests.

But the media is going to do anything it takes to hide any bad news about this misadministration.
