Freepers turning on Not Too Swift Boat Vets
Just dawning on them that Kerry couldn't hope for better "opponents"

38. Who were they threatening to shoot today?
I swear the whole freeper board is one mass fantasy about killing people. If it weren't a right-wing board, the secret service would have carted most of them off to Gitmo by now.

3. Yeah, I heard O'Reilly's radio show today...
...said the evidence just wasn't on the side of those who made the commercial.

Said NONE served WITH Kerry - just at the same time as Kerry. 11 of the 12 on Kerry's boat were FOR Kerry, including the man who says Kerry saved his life.

O'Reilly: They (Swift Boat Vets) can't overcome that...

4. I like these comments
(about Bill O'Rielly slamming the ad)

To: Jenya
Got to remember this blue collar Irish guy is actually a Harvard liberal.

To: cyncooper
Well, IMO, Hume sounded like he didn't want to touch it. And Krauthammer suggesting we might never know the truth, fog of war and all that, was unbelievable. There's nothing foggy about falsified records, rice instead of shrapnel, or inflicted versus self-infliced wounds.

=====

To: sinkspur
Yes - haven't we learned anything from the Clinton years :(

He was a liar and scoundrel, and in our zeal to prove that over and over, the populace was turned off to the opposition and rallied around him to some extent. The Dems should stand alone in this election as the negative ones.

37. Hannity was just saying to the Viet Nam vet that
Kerry saved, that we should fully investigate Kerry's Viet Nam record, which pissed me off so I wrote Hannity an email and said "since Fox is fair and balanced" then you must also think we should fully investigate Bush's military record and bring on his service buddies to back him up. ha He won't read it, but it felt good.

We better keep our powder dry on this one. It could backfire, big time.

11. bad roll for the freepers recently, and in short order
first, the COO of Faux News endorses Kerry; and,
then, tonite, the pillar memes turn their own corners: O'Lielly, Hume and some FAUX roundtablers want to disavow the not-so-swift vets' ad ...

... let the peeling off begin ... that's how "turning THOSE corners" (to borrow a phrase) lead to landslides for the challenger candidate ...

from post #30

*Vietnam was buried in the past until Kerry came on the scene and told everyone he was a war hero.*

No, asshole, Vietnam was never buried in the past and it became an issue when your "War President" had the audacity to try and convince the country that he was some kind of goddamned "war hero" when in fact he couldn't even show up for his ANG duty. Your fucking guy opened up this can of worms by making ridiculous statements like "I've been to war, and I've rasied two daughters" (paraphrase) and then put on his little show on the aircraft carrier with the sock stuffed in his flight suit. Too bad he got caught bullshitting and someone has the nerve to call him on it. Boo Hoo.

27. Furthermore: Kerry never said he was a 'War Hero" ....
HE served, and received minor accolades for minor wounds ... nothing special or inappropriate there ... same as anyone else who was wounded in the war ...

He DID save a man's life: does that make him a 'War Hero" ? .. or just a Hero ? ...

Tis THEY who prop up this caricature strawman of Kerry: Kerry said no such thing ...

He served ...

He knows what war is ...

He killed, and was mildly wounded ...

He received medals ...

He saved a man's life ....

He led men, and those men admire him ....

The Swifties are less soldiers denigrating a fellow soldier, and more rightists casting stones at a good man in the hopes of smearing him ....

The Freepers will never emerge from their self-imposed cages ...

48. Well: I'm not trying to minimize it ....
My point is: Kerry is standing on his record, and not really 'expanding' it or adorning it ... He did what he did, and received what everyone else did when such things happened to them ... Kerry DID his job, and didnt shy from it ... was WAS wounded, even if not critically: but that doesnt matter: HE STUCK HIS NECK OUT ... and he offered his life for his country .... I would honor a GOPer if they did the same: very few actually did ...

Now: His rescue of Rassman was absolutely HEROIC ..

There is NO questioning that, and only a fool would try ...

Chuckles ... guess what ? .. they are ....

55. The thing about minor war wounds-
if they had been a few inches in another direction they become deadly war wounds. To be wounded 3 times means:

(1) he is a very lucky man.
(2) he is a very brave man.
(3) he deserves the 3 purple hearts he got.

18. This is a case of sever Group Think. I think the Freepers are a bit scared
about their new book, backfiring. As for the 527's, I have not seen any ad that even comes close to this. Not even those ads against Dukakas come close. Talk about abhorrent. I know Kerry has anticipated this from his Nixon appointed hit man, O'Neill since he decided to run for Prez. I now know why he went so strong on his record of service, since without the truth from his shipmates, these BFEE death squads would have their way with him as they did with McCain and with Cleland. Now, Lets prove there evil and have it expose them and the truth behind the BFEE.

The fact that Kerry even risked his behind by volunteering to go to Vietnam while Bushwah's daddy kept him safely in the states, pretty much negates any criticism. Bushie's idea of "service" was partying and going AWOL. And the Freepers can't admit it.

30. It's just beginning to dawn on them. Their beloved smear campaign
is about to sink like a rock and end up in a bump for Kerry in the polls.

There are prominent long time Freepers who have been working on this since very early this year.

It has backfired on them big time and this may be pointed to in the future as the moment the deal was sealed and Bush lost the election, primarily due to the efforts of the members of FreeRepublic.com.

I've been a long time lurker over there. I believe in knowing my enemies.

Now they're crestfallen that their very own Brit Hume and his All-Stars have betrayed them. I just caught a few minutes of Pat Buchanan and Mike Barnicle and they're dissing it, too.

Watch for the White House to start distancing themselves from it. They were so in-your-face today, but there may be a flip-flop coming.

There were rumors that Bush senior had pictures, maybe even a video of Clinton burning the American flag in Moscow during the years he failed to attend classes in Oxford. Bush didn't show the pictures during the campaign because it was ungentlemanly and he lost. Well, we don't have time for Mr. Nice Guy. By Nov. we may be dealing with nuclear devices exploding, here, there, and everywhere. GW and the republicans know quite well that Kerry and the RATs will skirt every campaign finance rule, smear, spin, and lie themselves blue in the face to win in Nov. Kerry's like a vampire about to climb out of his coffin at nightfall. GW and the republican party had better drive that stake right through his chest and fast.
