I've been gratified to see the huge new crop of DU'ers recently especially since around the DNC. Most appear to be legit Democratic Party/Kerry supporters, many with excellent posts.:toast:

As always, sprinkled through with the usual crop of infiltrating malcontents, and I am resisting the urge to "finger" you as much as I used to, LOL.

Where did you all hear about the site?

And if you say, "freerepublic", well, talk to the finger! LOL

I've been reading DU for a couple of years, but only recently started posting, as my blood pressure has continued to rise in anger and despair. I found it by typing Anti Bush Web Sites into Google - came up with a huge list of which my two favorites are this, and Dubyaspeak.com. Started with the Top 10 Conservative Idiots list, moved on to articles, then the forums....feels like home!

My posts were making them angry and they told me to go back to my libural friends at DU. I hadn't a clue what DU meant! They banned me and I came here and have loved ever minute of the experience!

17. Actually now that I think about it, I can't remember where I heard about

DU myself now!

I really really needed something, especially living in the midst of a RW community here in Dallas. I think I found this site googling around or something but I can't remember now. Had frustrating experiences arguing with RWers elsewhere and getting called names and cursed at even though I never laid this kind of attack on the RWers.

This is a great place and I'm glad to be here.

Actually come to think of it I think I found it linked off of moveon.org, which I was perusing as the primary season was getting underway.

I've attended a political meetup and contributed to a political campaign (Clark, then Kerry) for the first time this season as a result of the internet.

An Internet friend told me about this place, and I found it was, for lack of a better word, a great haven - a place to read posts and articles from other people who share some, most, or all of my views.

Glad you're resisting the urge...you know...because it's really disconcerting to have people attack you. Makes you feel less welcome when some of us already LIVE that way (I used to live in Virginia, and was heckled by NEIGHBORS when I'd refused their Republican handouts during the last presidential election!) Now, I'm less of a minority in NY, but still...it's intimidating to have people make snarky remarks. I somewhat understand the paranoia, but ... :)
