I think the Swift boaters are secretly working FOR Kerry
They must be. They have caused more people to abandon the Rethuglicans than anything that Kerry said during the convention. I love it!! I know two former Viet Nam Vets who never even voted before and they are mad a hell and going to register just so they vote against Bush. Think how much money that ad saved the Kerry campaign.

1. That would be funny...
Sort of like "The Sting" of a national election.

So, who does Paul Newman play?

2. I hardly think so
and to be quite frank, I don't think stuff like this should be said. Talking points like this are nothing more than more fodder for the freepers. Just my opinion.

7. LOL! Too true! This is part of their diabolic disinfo campaign
pretend Kerry put them up to it just to give him yet ANOTHER chance to tell the story of his bravery under fire! And garner even MORE sympathy from the military loving public!!!

3. They are mad about the ad?
It seems like everything Bush does backfires.

5. The line about "Kerry betrayed his crewmates"
or something like that....but that was it! How is that supposed to be construed as a talking point? IMO these jokers just shot off one of Bush's feet, and he ain't gonna get any Purple Heart sympathy out of this!

10. good for YOU, man
I've been wearing one of my dad's dog tags (gave the other to my brother) ever since the week the invasion started

got in an almost fight with a VN vet at the Lincolm Memorial

Marched in the Vets for Peace Parade that day

D Ellsberg was there

my dad had his ASS blown off in Belgium; spent a year in military hospital....carried lots and lots of shrapnel in his back and leg for the rest of his life, fighting NAZIS

that's why I put it on....cause we LOST the war to the BFEE

that's why I almost got in a fight with the vietvet.

I can't remember being this FURIOUS since, well, ooops, Dec. 12, 2000

tho, that was more massive depression

8. it's actually comparable to the Clinton impeachment thing
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 11:27 PM by JI7
the republicans were so full of hatred for clinton they could not stop their hate and attempts to bring him down . they were so blinded by their hatred they could not see how they were turning off so many people. the 1998 congressional elections where everyone thought democrats would lose like 50 seats just because clinton had sex resulted in democrats gaining seats and clinton had 70+ percent approval ratings when they impeached him. and it also resulted in people like bob livingston, newt gingrich losing their jobs . people saw most of those going after clinton as hateful hypocrites.

and the issue was no longer about clinton having an affair but about the hateful right wingers. and now it's no longer about Kerry and what he did or didn't do but rather the hateful "smear boat vets" and their hateful viscious disgusting attacks on kerry.

9. Half-listening today to a local radio station that plays at my office
Typically they're just a standard stream of the White House talking points that all the media babbles on with. But I was really taken aback this evening to hear them talking about the ad, and they were actually upset and even angry about it. "I heard it this morning, and I said to myself that I really don't want to have to play this ad," one host said, and THEN he proceeded to read off all the Spaeth and O'Neill and Colson background right out of Joe Conason's article. I was floored! Eventually they just sort of trailed off...deciding that even if the ad isn't true, now that it's out there, the damage is done...and that if somebody put out an ad saying George W. Bush is a cross-dresser, well, we'd have a cross-dressing president.

I can almost smell roasting Bush now...
