Attacks could have been averted--
http://www.chaser.com.au/show_story.asp?ID=947&ED=88

An Iraqi Commission into the attack by US forces in March last year has found that Iraqi security forces failed repeatedly to take seriously intelligence that could have averted the attacks.

The Commission heard that following the attacks, there has been a clampdown on Americans living in Iraqi, with many facing increased victimisation, and concerns for their safety. "There have been claims we’re discriminating against Americans," said Mr Fahd, "but we must defend our own citizens’ way of life, no matter what the inconvenience is to foreigners."

Mr Fahd said he did not know what drove the US military to do the attack on 3/19 but that it would not be forgotten. "The only conclusion is that they hate our way of life."

The secretive US military network is known to favour strikes on "soft targets" that cannot defend themselves from air attack, such as hospitals and weddings.
