The Scariest Thing About The Bush Gaffe
Edited on Fri Aug-06-04 06:43 AM by louis c
is that he read it from a prepared text.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country, and neither do we."

Someone, apparently not Bush, wrote that statement. Another aide or speech writer had to re-read it. Someone else had to go over it with the President. Then Bush had to practice it at least a couple of times.

Bush read the statement, re-read it, practiced it, and recited it without ever realizing what it meant. That's scary, really scary.

They have the actual words posted on the web site.

It was written and rehearsed. That's what's scary.

3. I believe,,,,,,,,,,,,,
he tried to "wing it" to add emphasis to his point. The man should never vary from the script, never. He's not mentally equipped to adlib.

4. That is quite a slip...
I don't see anything that could fit in those three words that he could have mispoken about. Something subconcious coming out, I think. But, there is no way of knowing.

To all Republicans; is he the best you could have done? Common, really...

8. Peggy Noonan to the rescue
It was really bad writing then. There were many ways to communicate what they meant. They are incompetent.

13. taken in context of Condi's quote "Who would of thought...."
It does ring correct that National Security people should be thinking about new ways to harm the country...so they can make plans to stop it.

One of the big failures in stopping 911 was allegedly no one in intelligence circles could of imagined planes as bombs.

(We know here that this is not true, they did know planes could be used as bombs)

So yes they did write this speech with those exact words. What is scary is that is is so dumb to say it that way.

It should of been written like this:

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country, and we are doing our best to anticipate their next move to keep America safe."
