triple body blow may have ended shrub
In my estimation, the last 24 hours may have helped John Kerry tremendously. First the swift boat morans. The backlash has been overwhelming. If O'liely has condemned them, you know it's bad. Second, his verbal gaffe yesterday may not be that big a deal in and of itself, but the fact that even some media has run with it gives millions a chance to hear Dimson make a fool of himself. This mornings job numbers are a disaster. Not just for those of us (me included) who have been laid off recently, but for Whistle ass. He has nothing to run on at his convention now except terra. I now believe the Plame indictments will be the final blow that lands him on the mat.

21. Mrs. V. and I discussed this on the way to work. Nixon votes=Shrub votes?
I was too young to experience the 1972 election "live," but Mrs. V. remembers it vividly. I asked her if people backed Nixon as vehemently then as they back Shrub today, and she said "absolutely."

I wonder further: how many people who voted for Nixon in 1972 will vote for Shrub this year?

2. Woohoo!
I don't watch much news, and Thursdays I work late (2 jobs due to Bush economy) so, I didn't know that the media was actually covering some of this stuff.

I saw that Leno and Letterman both had the stupid Bush quote, though.

Whatever happened with the Talking Points Memo guy and his suggestion something big was coming? Did anything happen with that, or are we still waiting? (thinking Plame indictments perhaps)

And that it was created by Italian Intelligence.

3. Plame indictments are not going to happen before November
Swift boat is being ignored by the party. It is stand alone 527 ad.
And the gaff, or should we say, the latest gaff will just get played off as "strong leader under a lot of stress fighting terra", and everybody makes a mistake, just like the good old boy you'd rather have a beer with.

my opinions of course. Keep working Kerry campaigners. It ain't over yet.

22. I don't share your pessimism ...
Plame indictments are a coming ... The Plame Grand Jury was scheduled to disband at the end of July. Something is going to happen.

And the Swift Boat guys have already been shot down in flames. Kerry's commander already apologized for signing on to that thing. The apology drives a stake through the heart of it.

If I am a reporter I ask "Mr. President, do you condemn the Swift Boat ad?" Until he cries "uncle," the story remains.

5. Don't forget the pregnant soldier's torture trial and torture whitewash.
Plus the Abu-Grabi children-torture story, plus the stories of released Gitmo prisoner's torture currently in the British newspapers. If these things are linked to Bush...

6. I'm just waiting for the debates
There's no way someone could listen to Kerry and Bush speak on the same point, and still think that Bush is who you would rather have in the WH. He can't even successfully parrot a written response, let alone form an articulate answer of his own.

7. He "good ole boyed" his way through 2000 debates.
While Gore jumped up and down in his chair unable to wait to exound all his command of the facts.
My recollection and perception of course.

9. My recollection was that Bush was a ZERO in the debates
and only scored points because he could utter a few stupid sentences. Gore cleaned his clock each time.

13. That's my recollection as well.
I also seem to remember the media spinning it off as arrogant Al Gore bullying poor ol' Georgie Porgie. Heaven forbid someone beating on a mental midget in a verbal sparring match, ya know?

16. Mine were Gore's heavy sighs
as Bush lied and lied and lied about his record in Texas. Poor Gore had been told not to call Whistle Ass on his lying because it might make him look like a big, bad bully.

The DLC strikes again.

27. Nobody noticed the sighing until....
...Dick Cheney bitched about it in the spin session an hour or so after the debate. Up to that point the talking heads were actually gingerly approaching the idea that Gore had cleaned the Chimp's clock. Then, Dick Cheney threw them a line and they grabbed it...ooh, ooh, rude old smarty pants Al Gore, picking on likeable oaf. Grrr. I remember it well. I was watching with a large group of people who never heard the sighing because we were groaning and hooting at every Shrub answer. The talking heads had their line then, and they essentially used it, with variations (ooh, now he's not rude, he's afraid to say anything!) for the next two debates. Naw, I don't think Gore ran a brilliant campaign, but our dear friends in the infotainment business--with helf from Ralph-- made it close enough to steal.

20. Ha - that's what you think
the RW wackos & their media lackeys set the debate bar so f-ing low for * that when he didn't come across as Jack Nicholson at the end of "The Shining", it was a huge victory for *

Gore, despite scoring points on the facts, also lost points for looking condescending and rolling his eyes.

31. I wish that Gore would have..
unleashed the full fury on the Chimp. No matter what, people would've seen him as a know-it-all (the West Wing school of thought on this issue..). Why not do some damage to the opponent if your efforts to supposedly more cordial/polite/human are going to fail?

8. I agree with ideas
the backlash, jobs, not so much his bushspeak, heck everyone knows what a simple minded boob he is. I wouldn't call it a triple bady blow though.

Hell, if the media has all but stopped talking about the tortures, and Iraq this is nothing! It does have an effect that many just aren't talking about. This slow dripping of facts that the media sends out a and has been adding up against this fascist party!

10. The real reason that the swiftboat turds are out is that Kerry told the
the truth about what was going on in Viet Nam. Kerry admitted his role in the atocities, told the Congress of others (and probably these turds know they were guilty of war crimes themselves) and they are mad about it.

24. Something I saw on MSNBC last night:
They were discussing Bushs' line about the "heart and sould of America". Then, they showed about a dozen clips of him saying "I think it's right here in .....(fill in with a dozen different names)". Then, the commentator said "Well, I guess it moves around."

I thought that was pretty funny. AND a good sign.

25. How the story about swiftboatgate (haha) was headlined in the paper
"...some vets dispute Kerry's service." Then they sort of go on to talk about John McCain for a teeny paragraph. Note too at the bottom of the page was the important news that George Prescot Bush is getting married this weekend. Now that is news. He looks like the offspring of a rodent and JEB. Talk about someone looking like the Enzyte guy. He has more teeth than all the Osmonds in the world. My point is, though, that even the papers refuse to question anything pro Bush. And this from a paper that calls itself the Democrat.

there are still a lot of people that only catch bits and pieces of news here and there, some catch a few fox news segments while flipping through channels and these people will take the bait. We'll see how it plays out before we know for sure.
