2. Definition time.
Stagflation (n): The process of inflating a rubber woman by one or more men after being unable to score at a recent singles' mixer.

3. No
I don't see anything in the data that reliably predicts stagflation.

If inflation hits, the primary indicators will contract. The balance point for employment, median income saturation, and real growth is too razor's edge.

So, if inflation hits to any significant degree (and i only see that likely due to energy pricing), the economy won't stagnate, it will contract slightly.

This is neither deflationary, nor stagflationary.

4. Thanks, Professor.
Some of the brokers here are starting to use discuss it, I thought it would be an interesting poll.

5. If Greenspan Keep Rates Low
Inflation will pick up. If he raises them a lot, we'll go back into recession. If he raises them a little, we could see both.

7. If oil reaches the $55-60 a barrel mark, we could well see staglation
We're either going to see the economy overheat with inflationary pressures; or we're going to see the Federal Reserve hitting the brakes, significantly hiking interest rates and tipping the US in to recession.
