Airline second quarter financial results (some surprises).
Plus side:
Southwest Airlines ... net income of $113 million
US Airways ... net income of $34 million
JetBlue Airways ... net income of $21.5 million
AirTran Airways ... net income of $16.8 million
American Airlines ... net income of $6 million
America West Airlines ... net income of $5.7 million

Minus side:
Alaska Airlines ... net loss of $1.7 million
Continental Airlines ... net loss of $17 million
Northwest Airlines ... net loss of $182 million
United Airlines ... net loss of $247 million
Delta Air Lines ... net loss of $1.96 billion

Delta lost $1.96 billion? That's $21.8 million a day! That's almost a million dollars an hour! Is Ken Lay running Delta now?

1. Why doesn't Delta outsource all the jobs like ticketing agents,
pilots and cabin attendants to India? They already outsource all their reservations and call centers.A little extra push and turn a loss into oodles and oodles of profits.

4. Fuel is WAY up, Delta's fleet is inefficient; ticket prices are down.
And I think they had some 'special charges' -- one time writeoffs, not all cash out the door.
