I don't personally think celebrity endorsements mean much, but in a CNN story today, they detailed a list of stars and celebs that are backing the Bush/Cheney ticket, many of whom will be in New York for the convention. They include:

Dennis Miller

Britney Spears

Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Lara Flynn Boyle

Jason Priestlay

Ron Silver

Angie Harmon

Jason Sehorn

Lynn Swann

Kelsey Grammer

Jessica Simpson

Kid Rock

Alex (A-Rod) Rodriguez

Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)

Clint Black

Sara Evans

Brooks & Dunn

Jonny Lang

Lee Ann Womack

This list does not include many other well known GOP supporters like Bruce Willis, Gene Simmons, Patricia Heaton, Tom Selleck, Ted Nugent, Chuck Norris, Joe Paterno, Mike Ditka and many others. Again, I don't think many people listen to celebrity endorsements but, if they're going to have theirs, we should certainly counter with ours.

Wow...where do I get tickets? This could really do a lot of damage to Branson.

Cheers!

1. Isn't Jason Priestley Canadian?
Some of these names sound a bit suspect.

Priestley for prez
By MARY JANE KLETKE
Calgary Sun

Jason Priestley isn't getting physical, just political.

The Vancouver-born star of Beverly Hills, 90210 says U.S. presidential candidate Bob Dole is a "dinosaur" who wants to put both a V-chip and an S-chip (a computer chip to censor sex scenes) into American TV sets.

Thing is, Priestley is still a Canadian citizen who can't even vote in the U.S.

"I'm a stowaway in this country. That's why I can run off at the mouth about Bob Dole," Priestley admits.

And he didn't agree with Michael Moore using the Oscars to make a political statement, but he didn't openly disagree with them...
http://www.resurrectionsong.com/archives/000526.html
"I think more people should keep their opinions to themselves," Priestley said. He was particularly incensed by Moore's acceptance speech.

"It was shocking. I did not believe that was the forum to voice your opinions. Michael Moore is allowed to have opinions and his opinions are valid like everyone else's opinion, but I just didn't think the Academy Awards were the place to voice them in that manner," he explained.

So, dunno :)

again, might be suspect. The idea that Jason Priestley is a Bush supporter is laughable.

Plus, ahem...they could have spelled his last name correctly. :-)

Went to Henley's wedding and all - oh well. But I still have NO friggin' idea what happened to Ron Silver - who used to be a reliable and active Democrat. 9/11? Israel? Brain damage? Dunno.

In the early 90's he would sub for Michael Kinsley now and then, but became a critic of Clinton during the Inquisition and took a hard right with Bunnypants and 9/11.

To use the term used by others here...he's an "Israel Firster"...like Ben Stein and several other, predominately Jewish, politicians, entertainers (Skunk Baxter is one)...who are tight with the Wolfie/Perle PNAC'ers.

I used to think he was Ron Jeremy. LOL!!!

And the only political thing Jonny Lang has done is perform at Jesse Ventura's inauguration. Also Ted Nugent is a big fan, but that is not Jonny's fault. I would be weary about these so-called lists. They keep on saying Ashley Judd is one of them, which she definitely is not.

I have trouble thinking Steven Tyler supports Bush. I would refuse to buy anymore of Aerosmith's albums, but I quit doing that long ago when they began to really suck.

Jonny Lang is born again, I believe, so this is possible. What a shame, cause I own all his records. He has the voice of a 80-year-old black man whose heart has been ripped out by life and the fingers of an ancient bluesman and young rocker combined. He also has great song selection. His CD's are all great. I did check his wensite, but i is dormant since 2003.

45. Country Singer
No surprise there. The only recent country singers to claim they are democrats are Billy Ray Cyrus, John Michael Montgomery, and, of all people, Toby Keith. Then again Keith donated to *, Cyrus let * use his song in 2000, and I haven't heard Montgomery name in quite a while. I don't really follow country though.

I left out the Dixie Chicks because the establishment in Nashville has pretty much cast them off.

48. With very few exceptions...
That list is chock full of morons, doofuses, and talentless hacks.

Steven Tyler? Aerosmith used to be interesting, oh, thirty years ago. Now they write the same song, over and over again, and it sounds like the background track for a VISA commercial.

Jessica Simpspon? Mmmmm. That pretty much sums up the brainpower of your average Bush voter.

Dennis Miller used to be funny, once upon a time. I don't know what the hell happened to him. He's got his head so firmly lodged inside his own rectum these days it may require that jaws of life deal to get it out.

The only song I've ever heard by that J. Lang guy sounded like a bad 80s rehash.. done last year. Seen the movie Ghost World? I Think "Blues Hammer"

Kid Rock? See Jessica Simpson.

The only person on that list who I would think might have the brains to know better would be Kelsey Grammer. But, go figure. Maybe he feels an affinity to Bush because of his past cocaine problems.

Cavalcade of Suckage. No surprise. Next!
