I do not hate george bush.
The repugs have been very successful, with a lot of assistance from Dems and the left, to reducing our opposition to bush to mere personal hatred of him. This diminishes our reasons for opposing him. The repugs portray as us irrational people blinded by our own prejudices--and because bush wraps himself in the flag, we must be America-haters too.

Our opposition to the bush administration runs much deeper than hatred of one person. The emotion I feel most is fear. I fear for what is happening to our country, and mostly I fear for my children's future. I fear they might grow up into a brave new world of never-ending war, limited personal liberties where they must watch what they say and watch what they do, a bankrupt America that will make the Depression seem quaint, a raped and pillaged environment that takes years off their lives, a world of far too many people with far too few finite resources, a world where democracy will be resigned to history books.

Yes, I despise george bush, but this is not about one person. It trivializes why we oppose the bush cabal that is consolidating power into the hands of the few, the connected, who have made abundantly clear they are the enemy of the American public.

There is a darkness that is enveloping this country, and those who see it, who feel it--fear it. The great patriot Paul Krugman said at a book signing last night, when speaking of why he does what he does in the face of great intimidation, "because these people really, really scare me."

So when you are asked if you hate george bush, do not take the bait. Tell them that it is not hate that you feel--it is fear, a deep fear that you have never felt before in your life.

5. Throw it back at them. Use their own adage:
We hate the sin, not the sinner.

6. Hate him? No, I dislike him.
He's only the useful idiot of the real villains here.

The Neocons, fundamentalist Christianists, warhawks and corporate power brokers who literally control him are the real villains, and I dislike him for not standing up against them.

Now Dick Cheny is another case. I have a major hate on for him.

9. I agree, I hate dick cheney--he's one of the most evil creatures to ever
slither across the earth. And to tell you the truth, I hate bush too. But this "bush haters" theme plays right into the repugs' hands, trying to reduce our opposition to these guys to a personal dislike for bush, as vacuous and empty as cable news.

10. I hate him
Many of you are better than I am but loathe him. He stole my country, my belief that we are a fair country and support the rights of voters, and my belief that we had a fair media. Hate is close to fear but I can't wait for Kerry to take the Presidency. It will restore many of my values.

11. If it's not hate you feel,
Edited on Fri Aug-06-04 04:01 PM by Eloriel
you'll need to clarify this statement:

Yes, I despise george bush,

Also, your "solution" validates their attack by side-stepping it. Better IMO to step right up and say, Yes, I DESPISE (i.e., HATE) George Bush for the unbelievable destruction he has wrought on the country and the world."

Or, read my sig line.

17. I actually feel sorry for him.
He's obviously not the man in charge. He's just a puppet and his reputation is forever going to be in the toilet. But, he doesn't care about history because to quote him, "We'll all be dead."

To me, he is child-like and when I see him stumbling over his words, then giving that goofy 'you like me, you really like me' look, I feel sorry for him.

18. GW Bush is brain damaged.
I do not hate him but I do oppose what he stands for and will fight the Neo Fascists that have usurped the Representative Republic and are in the process of destroying the land of the territory called America and the Constitution of that land. I take the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and The Bill of Rights, seriously!

21. I hate him
more than I have ever hated anyone in my life. He has destroyed my country, alienated our allies, murdered 1000 American soldiers, 10's of thousands of innocent Iraq women, men and BABIES. He's a liar. He's arrogant. He's cocky. He's ignorant. He's EVIL.

If anyone should be hated? It's Bush. What? Do the repukes LOVE us? I don't think so! THEY are the haters. THEY are the ones who spent 8 years trying to bring down Clinton and ended up with nothing more than a BJ.....after spending $58 MILLION to investigate. NO....The defination of Hate is Republican.

22. The sad part is
that there are extremely large portions of our population who stand behind this clown and his failed economic and foreign policies. And those are just two of his miserable failings.

I caught Aaron McGruder on Tavis Smiley and he put it in a context that I have not heard espoused previously. This can only be the politics of racism. There is no other reason that poor southern whites would continue to support this idiot.

This president owes his popularity solely to the politics of hatred. He is deserving of hatred, simply for being the puppet of those who
perpetuate hatred.
