Poll question: GLBT DUers only please: Has terrorism scared you?
I'm a gay man. I am used to death threats and hostility. I've grown up as the recipient of violence by people who are no morally better than Al Quaeda.

I think most of us feel similarly, hence my asking of this question.

Most Americans are not used to the feelings of fear. And now they have what amounts to the tiniest taste of it.

Indeed, I'd otherwise laugh at how pompous people are of their cowardice and cheap desire to put "Proud to be American" bumper stickers, many of which would go right on bashing gays (figuratively or literally) and not see the duplicity and irony of the situation. They don't deserve to be proud. We gay people generally don't exploit, cheat, and harm others. America's history is full of this and worse.

1. No, it really doesn't scare me
I can't control everything so I tend not to get worked up about it. I am angry however for the people who are suppose to be in charge of this country who have let terrorist attacks happen.

But I couldn't vote in the poll b/c I'm not really use to the hatred. Mainly because I am not "out" to everyone. My family, friends. but now to co-workers.

Maybe then I would feel differently.

I have seen some cases with people I know who have been physically atttacked b/c they were gay.

Sometimes, you get some name-calling especially when we're standing outside a bar smoking but it's just words and it doesn't bother me.

2. The only thing that scares me is that
Bush will be in the WH for another term. Now, that scares the hell out of me. I'm not gay. Just wanted to let you know what scares me!

3. To be honest,
I'm more scared of Bush putting on two or three Scalia clones. THAT's terror to me. With the average time served on the high court now over 18 years per justice, that'd be a looong time to be terrorized by the Bush judicial legacy.

4. I live in NYC
and have for more than 20 years.

I was on the subway going into the city (from my Brooklyn apt) on 9/12.

I am not more or less afraid because of my sexuality.

I fear for the country, the world, and my young nieces and nephews, that BushCo will hold power and destroy any chance at a future for them.

5. I quietly made a similar observation on 9-11
Fear and terror is nothing new to our community.
