E-mails exchanges should not be shared under normal circumstances
But I need your help. A two week old exchange has occurred between me and a freeper who was one of my best friends 20 years ago. I never thought he would become one.

I have been presenting him with fact upon fact ad nauseum.

He has now come back with this witty comeback:

All smoke, no fire? your email has the tone, cadence* of an adherent of
the theory that aliens were found in Roswell, NM. Just like with aliens,
the stakes are too high for the proof not to come to the fore, if indeed it
was there. U.S. ain't some third-world junta.

Regards.

*not to mention lack of proof.

The dude has equated just the most rudimentarily understood facts about smirk's criminality, with a belief in the Roswell alien story.

What's more, my writing has "cadence" that reminds him of the alien story. Can someone help me understand that? I think cadence, in this context, means "fact pattern".

Can someone please blow this guy away....I'm tired tonight.

8. Exactly. When they stop debating facts they admit they lost on facts
When they stop debating facts they admit they lost on facts.

Give it minimal attention. Post a few facts occasionally in response. Let him foam and writhe and spend his energy. Give him room to climb down when he tires. He knows he's losing.

2. Try the Skeleton Closet
Go to www.realchange.org and get some of the information there. The stuff on Clinton should make him happy, and you'll feel better with both "facts" and "sources" to back you up! Enjoy! Ida

4. "I have been presenting him with fact upon fact ad nauseum."
Stop doing that..

Just send him one last email.. telling him that since he is not "into" facts, you have no desire to "talk politics" with him..

Then use your "delete" or "spam" button..

Aftre the election, email him a polite message and take it from there..

Life is too short to carry on a battle of wits with an un-armed opponent :)

5. That's good counsel.
My problem is that EVERYONE in my life, except a few friends, are hard core conservatives. DU's prcatically my only outlet. *sniff*

9. He just asserts that you are wrong and pretends he presented an argument

plus he throws in a personal attack, and you're upset about it? I don't get it. Don't waste your time. Talk fishing, baseball, etc.
