Semi-occult messages in Bush's public pronouncements

I'm not usually one to believe in the occult - but that doesn't mean I'm not on the lookout for those times when Bush "telegraphs" messages to the faithful by echoing Scripture or other ritual texts. You don't have to believe in the supernatural to believe that other people believe in it.

Recently I was reading up on Skull & Bones, the Illuminati, the Bilderbergs, etc. My take is that the symbolism and pageantry of such groups is random and incidental to their main purpose of bringing powerful people together to forge friendships and shady business deals. I think the Uncle Toby nicknames and the jerking off in a coffin are no more than a kind of syncretism of ancient-mythology-meets-fratboy-toga-parties which nonetheless may serve as simply yet another tie that binds this particular old-boy network together.

But it does bear mentioning that the image of the goat shows up quite frequently in the rituals of some of these groups. A cultural anthropologist would probably register this as a relevant data point about this particular cargo cult.

So, given that Bush somtimes embeds semi-occult messages to his followers in his public pronouncements, could "My Pet Goat" have some significance here?

If so, this would mean not only LIHOP/MIHOP, but also TKEWIWGTH - They Knew Exactly When It Was Going To Happen.

PS - Gore Vidal writes some of the best essays out there. He has an amazing grasp of US history, and a refreshingly blueblood background for someone so dyspeptic.

4. One of my favourite Vidal quotes is from that essay:

"Apparently, 'conspiracy stuff' is now shorthand for unspeakable truth."

It's nice how he commends Stan Goff and Nafeez Ahmed. But yes, it's quite a sad read. No one writes so poignantly about the end of the old republic.

I really wish there were more like him around. It's hard to find people with an insider experience of the establishment who then turn on and expose the lies and sickness of that very same establishment.

He's a very brave individual, a man with integrity, which is so rare these days.

My curiousity to track down these essays was spurred by my current re-reading for the nth time The Last Temptation of Christ by Nikos Kazantzakis....specifically the reference to the custom of the Israelites to purify their sins by suspending their sins upon the neck of a goat, stoning it, and chasing it into the desert to die....metaphors of the messiah.
