August 6, 2004

OAK RIDGE (WATE) -- About a dozen members of the Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance attended a demonstration Friday to mark the 59th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing.

Organizers say it's important for them to remember Hiroshima since the fuel for the "Little Boy" bomb was processed at Y-12.

The bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 killed or injured 160,000 people. Since then, more than 5,000 people have died of cancer or other illnesses caused by the bombing.
