How close are we to Martial law?
With the Patriot Act removing many civil liberties and privacy items, what would another terrorist attack do during the Bush administration? How many of you think that Americans (note: lulled into oblivion by the glowing box in their living rooms) would allow this if it was done piece by piece? Is it happening now?

1. he would do it if he could
We are NOT close to martial law because bush is NOT going to win in November ... but if he did win, we would be very close to martial law ... it's important to understand that bush is pulling the strings on his puppet government in Iraq ... if you want to see what he thinks of martial law in a country he so proudly uses to point to a "democracy" he created, you only need to read the following two articles ...

Iraq Set to Use Martial Law in Terror Fight
by Donald Macintyre in Baghdad

The interim Iraqi government last night looked increasingly prepared to impose martial law on sections of the country as coalition and Iraqi forces fought fierce battles with armed insurgents loyal to the radical Shia cleric Muqtada Sadr.

Iraq Shuts Al-Jazeera Baghdad Office for a Month

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq (news - web sites)'s interim government ordered Qatar-based Al Jazeera satellite television network to close its Baghdad office for one month on Saturday.

Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, confirming the decision at a news conference, said a commission had been monitoring Al Jazeera for the past four weeks to see whether it was inciting violence and hatred, and that the decision had been taken "to protect the people of Iraq."

Interior Minister Falah al-Naqib said this week that Arabic satellite channels were encouraging kidnappings by showing images of hostages threatened with executions.

2. Martial law
Bush*s poll numbers would have to fall below 39% Then the truly desperate Rove will order martial law and Postpone the election. It may require a false terrorist attack by Bush*s Saudi collaboraters.

2. Even if done piece-by-pierce, at the end, Americans would not be "allowed" to stop it when military, including the local police and neighborhood militias, tell citizens not to leave their homes indefinitely or use public roads or "take walks".

3. Fascism and democracy cannot co-exist. Only one can dominate.

5. We're already in a 'state of national emergency'...
...so declared by Bush* after 9-11. It's only a very small step to martial law.

6. About 60 days or so.
As Shrubby has travelled on the "official visit"/campaign trail, he's been hitting it heavy about "Jobs, GOOD Jobs". Since the jobs numbers came out yesterday, he's now back on All Terra, All The Time.

Tommy Franks ("I fought the war in Afghanastan from a golf course in Fla.") has told us that we would scream for Martial Law to be enacted if we are attacked again.

Bush will put us under the thumb if it looks like his poll numbers are going down faster than Jebbie's girlfriend, OR...

When he wakes up on the morning after and realizes he needs to start packing and call the movers...

In that case, he will declare Martial Law (bet he won't call it that)and declare that the transfer of power will not take place . Some bullshit about "not changing leadership in time of danger"...

Of course, you realize that while Bush says the words, it will be Rove and Cheney pulling his strings.

13. Not over a million
http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d04258.pdf

294,000 National Guardsmen.

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0004604.html

1.4 million troops. (I assume the reserves are a part of these statistics.)

You need about three support troops for every combat troop. That means you probably only have a max strength of about combat 423,500 troops.

Who how many of those 1.4 million are in other countries though.

11. We already are
they just aren't going to formally announce it.

Look at NYC and DC. DC has become an armed fortress. This is all part of the conditioning. People are accepting armed troops in the streets of the USA all in the name of national security.

Who needs Marshall Law when you already have total control and a well fed population of sheeple?

12. They would need secrecy to pull it off and already, people are howling
Right now, there are literally tens of millions of Americans watching these fuckers with all the skepticism, paranoia, and suspicion they deserve. I think they would have to have a populace that is much less aware of the bullshit than this one. True enough, many, many people are unaware yet, at the same time, many, many are very aware.
