Faux News' Coverage of Yesterday's Jobs Report
I had to watch Faux News because I wanted to see how they were going to cover a news story which clearly shows that the president's economic policy is failing. Their coverage has been bizarre. They've been actively trying to convince their viewers that the economy is in great shape and that yesterday's report was good news because the UE rate dropped from 5.6% to 5.5%. It's almost as if they were brainwashing their viewers instead of informing them. Hell, the Dow lost 300+ points on this news. They conveniently leave out that Bush promised 8 million new jobs in one year with his tax cuts in 2002, and so far, he's 7 million new jobs short.

In a sense, I pity the average Faux News viewer. You really have to be a simple-minded, idiot to watch that crap and believe it. It's really news for people who need some type of authority figure to tell them what to think and what to believe. Faux News is simply incapable of actually giving their audience accurate information on the economy.

It's like they're saying to their viewers, "Who are you going to believe us or your growling stomach?"

1. 91,000 people died in America in July
I can't help but wonder (oh morbid me) how many of these 32,000 spectacular jobs were actually "created". Were they in fact jobs that were filled due to the apparent natural death(s) of the 91,000 Americans that died in July.

The crock o'shit grows bigger and stinkier by the second!

:puke:

:dem: :kick:

10. It's net jobs, so a person dying and being replaced in a job
wouldn't affect the number.

3. Bush's Support Come From People Who Refuse To Acknowledge
reality. They're looking for that White male authority figure to tell them what to think and what to believe. The overwhelming majority of Americans are laborers, not owners. We support ourselves by selling our labor, not by owning assets. During Clinton's terms, we were able to sell our labor, and we got top dollar for it. During Bush's term, we're having a hard time selling our labor, and even if we do, we get minimum wages.

How any working American can still support this administration is beyond me. You really have to be an irrational person to support policies that literally take money out of your own pocket.

5. Republicans like power and so do their supporters
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Some powerless are attracted to power purely by the luster of it, and some by the potential of it. Some with power are attracted to Republicanism because they want more.

Look at their terminology: "empowerment".

7. Next Jobs report Sept. 3. Bush speaks at RNC Sept. 2. Labor Day Sept. 6
Be prepared for either a bad report or a good report. Let's hope for a good report, for the sake of the country and the workers. Bush can and will be defeated, either way.

8. August's Jobs Report Will Definitely Be Better
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 12:23 PM by Yavin4
Because all of the unemployed, who are able to go back to school for more re-training, will do so in August. For instance, if you've been unemployed for six months or more, and you have the wherewithal to get an advanced degree in something, you're probably are going to go back to school. That by itself will lower the UE rate as more people drop out of the "looking for work" category. Moreover, a new school year automatically creates more jobs as schools gear up.

So, yes, Bush should have a good jobs report for August 2004. However, that's been said before and it turned out wrong.

9. Job statistics are seasonally adjusted
Job statistics are seasonally adjusted and already account for the retraining phenomenon you mention.
