1. Not really a Republican fest
but pretty boring...Cokie and Bob Barr are just not interesting guests.

2. I think he's always worth watching...

And his rant about prisons in the US is great. Frankly, he's one of the only people out there saying things about the Drug war and the treatment of non-violent offenders and others in US Prisons that I wish my party had the balls to say.

Bob Barr is still a doofus, but I find him much less offensive now that he's not actually in congress, for some reason.

Cokie "The Cryptkeeper" Roberts? Yawn.

Steve Harvey (is that his name?) was hysterical though.

3. I thought Barr made a great deal of sense for a Repug.
Cokie was same old Cokie, Steve Harvey wasn't that Funny.

6. Proof positive that repubes don't really believe the partyline crap
Most of them start to make a little sense, once they are lame ducks or decide they don't want to run again..

There must be a little playbook somewhere that they all memorize when they take office..

Republicanism is a CULT..

5. It lacked last weeks oomph, but
you can't expect it every time. I was not thrilled but did enjoy it.

8. horrible
embarrassingly unfunny

strained

pregnant pauses

lame comebacks

stupid ad at beginning about metal collar available to keep head from getting chopped off

not really worth commenting on

I saw the previous show on tape right after that, which made it seem that much worse

don't bother, unless you have NOTHING at all else to do

worst show I've seen since he started at HBO

7. Worth watching but compared to last week
**yawn**

I liked Steve Harvey, never saw him before.
Cokie and Barr seemed liked they were trying to be cute by half. Bill needs to have that Kim Campbell and Michael Moore on more often!

9. Not a repug fest
Just not funny. I agree with what most of the posters here have said. The panel was lame and Bill seemed frustrated at how unproductive the conversation was.

10. Maher should know by now, that his audience is left-leaning
we can see republicans EVERYWHERE else.. We tune in to his show to see something different.. If he gives us repubes, we watch something else.. It's that easy , Bill..:)

13. Wrong
I don't tune in to Maher to see Republican free TV.

I tune in to Maher to see funny TV that makes me think.

His guests weren't funny and didn't make me think about much except for how long it was 'til the show was over.

Has nothing to do with their political leanings.

15. I agree! We can see repukes everywhere and
isn't it thrilling to have Dems have a voice. They're much funnier and prettier.

Like the Dem Convention for instance.

11. No It Wasn't A Bashfest...
I know we all like the "red meat" of a Michael Moore taking apart a David Drier or smacking down Bill Owens, but I found last night's show of far more substance.

Yes, Barr is an asshole, but he's not that happy with this regime and, if you put your hate aside and listen to him, he had some real nasty shots of his own...for a repugnican. Very telling. Also, Barr is now working with the ACLU. Say what you will about the dude, he knows the law (glad I never had to face that bastard in a court) and is consistent in his advocacy of states rights and individual privacy. BTW...if you listened closely, you saw him bitchslap the GOOP on the GMA.

The best moment with the Cokester was when Mahrer asked the question I've been dying to for ages (since her NPR days)...how's life being named after a drug? I laughed.

Cokie has lived in the beltway and been to too many drinkie-drinkie parties. The lady's hopelessly out of touch and was so out of her environmnet in that setting. She tried to play "moderate", but had no clue what she was talking about.

Steve Harvey was part funny, part asshole. Dressing up like a pimp doesn't do much for me when so many have fought so long to destroy that stereotype. His funny lines were far and few and instead of adding to the discussion acted like a spoiled kid. It was woefully obvious this guy doesn't care about anything but himself.

No this wasn't Mahrer's best and I was ready to pan it...then I watched it a second time closer. Personally I thought the groveling with Nader in week one to be embarassing...and if the show turns into feeding GOOPies to the lions (despite them deserving it every week) it's no better than a right wing hate show.

Mahrer has to find some balance for this show to work, just like P.I. Those best shows were when you had a Falwell or a Coultergeist or Barr on vs. a solid liberal or progressive with Mahrer playing referee, judge and bombthrower.
