Jesus freaking christ - O'really on CNBC
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 06:59 PM by Selwynn
Dude,

I know this guy is a lying asshole failure - but oh my good god, he was freaking out on (edit - CNBC) just now - totally freaking out, screaming, its so embarassing and utterly ridiculous... I can't believe it.

3. I was just talking to my husband about this. The guy has some serious
anger management issues. I thought I saw Mr. Krugman's hand shaking when he was reading that quote when the show was about to go off the air.

O'Reilly can go to hell! He's a maniac!

O'Reilly has serious mental problems.

22. I was reading a book by Howard Zinn, and a guy actually told me
I should read one of Bill O'Reilley's books for "balance". I couldn't keep myself from laughing and I said, "what do you mean? A little stupidity to balance out the intelligence?".

I didn't realize he was serious until I'd already insulted him but... well there you go. :P

25. Amazes me. I've been told that, too.
"Balance" a well-written, researched, foot-noted book with a polemic rant. Sorry, don't need that kind of balance.

Tell guys like that that they need to see a couple of Moore documentaries to balance their viewing of Fox news.

27. I noticed Krugman's hand shaking too.
I've seen Krugman on C-SPAN speaking in front of 20 or 30 economic policy wonks and he seemed nervous then too. I get the feeling that being "on" is really not in his temperament. And then to go up against the kaleidoscopically splotchy and one-flamed-out-neuron-away from-total-psychosis Bill O'Reilly!

62. Paul Krugman is just fine in person
I had a chance to talk to him for a few minutes after a book signing this afternoon in North San Diego County. He wasn't nervous at all. He did a very good job. (As I cross-posted in the "Breaking News" forum) Krugman was asked about the O'Reilly interview. Krugman felt pretty good about it, but noted that nobody can really have enough experience debating a moron like that. (I'm paraphrasing a bit.) Someone asked if they were friendly or civil to each other off camera; Krugman replied that he hates O'Reilly. They are definitely not civil to each other off camera.

40. Blow was like a school yard bully
that finally understands that the rest of the schoolyard is on to him. I give Krugman alot of credit for not just starting to screaming back, the less Krugman said the louder Blow would yell making himself look even worse. Russert was having a good time at others expense during this and i loved it when Blow Hole said something like..."If i was behaving so badly they'd trow me out of here." and Kurgman looks at Russert and says.."No way you'd do that". Once again Blow o"lielly proves himself..."Wholly without merit."

10. He went off three or four times. Whenever he was cornered, basically.
Krugman said that O'Reilley had stated on his show that Michael Moore hates America. O'Reilley denied ever having said that. Krugman insisted that he had. When O'Reilley again denied ever having made that statement, Krugman pulled out a sheet of paper with quotes from Bill's show and read the appropriate line.

O'Reilley asked him where got that quote, and Krugman replied that he got the clip from the Media Matters website.

O'Reilley began flailing his arms about, and shouting- really shouting- about 'oh! Media Matters! Do your own research, PAL! You're getting stuff from left wing hate groups!'.

Very funny.

51. A standard right-wing tactic-attack the messenger
even when the message is correct. Why is it exactly that when Rush or Bill or any of the others quote the MRC that they don't disclose that it's a right-wing hate group?

The thing with O'Reilly I've observed is that he seems to truly believe he hasn't said the things he's said and when confronted with the truth--he can't or won't admit that he said them no matter what. He's clearly got some mental issues and I think his "success" has only added to his own believe in himself--he thinks he's super-human. We all know he's just a super asshole.

38. Perhaps my title is the problem
You normally seem like a fairly reasonable, usually congenial person, so perhaps it was my thread title that is the big deal - I didn't mean the thread to be "hey everyone heads up, O'really is on CNBC." I know there is a thread about that.

My thread was to draw people's attention (who perhaps weren't looking at the other thread) to the fact that O'really was totally freaking OUT on CNBC in a seriously crazy way, and that I was shocked about it.

Maybe that is more clear.

O'Reilley got loud and said "I'm not gonna take that from you" in an argument over whether or not Krugman's book had predicted that Bush's tax cits would cause a deeper recession. O'Reilley picked up on it and really went after him. I don't think Kruggman's shake is neurological. He also looked generally scared and his eyes were darting about but never meeting O'Reilley's.

We need to get our Ph D's onto weight training and ultimate fighting training programs or we'll never win a debate on cable TV.

54. Krugman walks away from this looking brilliant, I think.
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 09:43 PM by Gregorian
I'm coming away from this with a couple of thoughts-

The taxes we propose, in order to combat this huge dificit are no worse than those during the 90's. And we all know how horrible the economy was then.

It is surprising how it takes a brilliant economist to combat idiotic barrages like the ones O'Reilly throws out. Amazingly difficult. Like putting out a fire that an arson lights.

O'Rielly is a bad man.

Edit- Didn't know it was an hour show. There's more.

O'Rielly used the word "vile" in describing Krugman's column and those in the NYT.

What I see going on here is nothing short of a political boxing match where certain people are fighting for the legitimacy of their political belief. And it appears that they are willing to use untruths in order to accomplish that. It is for personal gratification, and if they had any good in them, they would think of how their lies will affect the future generations. Talk about no child left behind. These liars will affect this country for years to come.

O'Reilly is brain damaged. He has some kind of autism, or disease. Good on facts, nonexistent on morals.
