6. o'reilly is a lunatic
the show has been on for less than ten minutes and he's already screaming.

krugman: "this isn't your show, you can't cut my mic"
o'reilly: "that's a cheap shot! that' what you are a cheap shot artist!!"

as if saying that is worse than o'reilly actually doing it? it would seem to me actually cutting a mic is more of a cheap shot.

I think that's why O'Reilly called it a cheap shot.

7. I feel so bad for Krugman so far
Sure he wins on facts but he has to have that big splotchy bully point and jaw at him while Russert doesn't say a word. That first segment could have used a bit of moderation..
PS SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP lol O'liely in rare form

a little fidgety, but his mind is as clear and sharp as any. I can't believe how low O'Reilly has gone with the personal attacks. Krugman is staying out of the gutter to his credit.

23. First true thing he's ever said.
I dropped economics about 3 weeks in, couldn't make heads or tails of it. I love Paul Krugman, but you know what dems need??? One of those defense attorneys that screams all the potential questions from the prosecution at you, either that or that guy from "an Officer and a Gentleman" who screamed at that gigolo guy...Richard Gere, the name just popped into my head.

A neo-con preparedness boot-camp, that's what we need.

26. I couldn't stand watching it.
O'Reilly infuriates me even more than Bush with his tantrum-throwing. I can sometimes pity Bush but I just want to throttle O'Reilly. Interesting that his act really seems to sell with the FReepers. They were claiming that O'Reilly "cleaned the floor" Krugman because Krugman seemed intimidated.

25. okay this is really bad
this is way worse than what i imagined when i read the account of it earlier on DU.
o'reilly was maybe a foot and a half from krugman and it looked like he wanted to punch him in his face. krugman is just sitting there minding his own business and o'reilly is very obvisouly trying to intimidate him like a thug.

32. I agree. O'Reilly was trying to physically intimidate Krugman.
I only caught the last 10 minutes, but it was obvious that O'Reilly was trying to physically dominate the show.

And, he kept telling Krugman to do his own research. Give me a break. Krugman's done more enough research in his career to make O'Reilly's head explode.

I also though I heard O'Reilly say something like, "you write an op-ed column, I do analysis". That is such an absurd statement I don't where to start.

28. He calls Al Franken "Stuart Smalley" and then says
he, O'Really, never tells people to shut up. The tape in Outfoxed was cut and spliced. Oh no... Heck, the tape of him and Franken at the LA book expo shows him yelling, with neck veins bulging, at Al.

Liar liar liar..... it ain't slander if it's true, you O'Real jackass.

30. i think krugman in the end
got a kick out of this.
he looked really nervous at first but he was laughing and smiling when bill went nuclear and was screaming "media matters!! media matters!!" while flailing his arms around.

what's funny is media matters will probably run a piece on this, since o'reilly compared them to the klan and to fidel castro.

31. I need a drink
damn closed ABC stores... I can't believe Krugman agreed to that it went just like I thought it would. Paul won but you can never really win with guys like O'Reilly they just change the game or shout over you and bluster when challenged. Russert is too much of a whore to properly moderate (did you notice how many times Krugman had to wait for a commercial to make his point and O'Lielly never had to once). The most depressing thing is that a large portion of TV viewers will see that as a win for the angry Mr O'Reilly. I appreciate Krugman stepping up but I really don't know if it does any good for a thoughtful understated man like him to engage with a blowhard like O'Reilly.

33. Krugman reminded me a bit of Franken at the Book Expo:
A little nervous, but still standing up tall against the thuggish bully O'Lielly.

And Krugman was well prepared with facts and logic, which are to O'Lielly what crucifixes and garlic are to vampires.

O'Lielly finally lost it completely in the last five minutes when he went on that completely irrational rant about Media Matters.

I would love to see someone confront O'Lielly about the "Paris Business Review," the fictional magazine he pulled out of his butt one night to support his contention that his boycott of France was working :-)

Heck, you'd probably be able to hear O'Lielly's head explode 90 miles away in Philly.

34. Krugman could have been more effective on WMD debate...
When O'Reilly repeated BA's assertions that the whole world thought Iraq had WMD's, Krugman gave a partial response that could have been more effective.

There are publicized-but-forgotten pre 9/11 quotes from both Powell and Rice stating that the administration believes that Hussein has been "contained" and that he is effectively not a threat.

And when O'Reilly was trying to make the point that Fox in general is not slanted to the right, Krugman could have displayed some astonishment that such a suggestion would even be made.

Overall though, I thought Krugman came off much better than the obnoxious, wild-eyed O'Reilly.
