O'Reilly "has no problem with" concert tour by "fat cat rocker" (The Boss)
Springsteen will be SO relieved...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,128219,00.html

In a couple of weeks, a bunch of rockers led by Bruce Springsteen (search) will launch an extended concert tour designed to help Senator Kerry. "Talking Points" has no problem with this at all. If big business guys can raise money for President Bush, then fat cat rockers can do the same for their guy.

Writing in today's New York Times, Springsteen tried to explain his motivation. And the article is instructive. He begins by saying why he has always stayed away from partisan politics, but that may be disingenuous. Springsteen has consistently pushed left wing defamation books at his concert and associated with radical elements of the Democratic Party.

Wealth is obtained in a free marketplace or by inheritance. Under our capitalistic system, the government has no right to divide any private holdings, be they property or income. Socialistic governments divide wealth. Capitalistic governments do not.

Bruce Springsteen could, of course, divide his own wealth, estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. That would fund a lot of social programs there, Bruce. He should think about that while relaxing in his $14 million Beverly Hills home or in his lavish New Jersey estate. Give it up, Bruce. You can bring the deficit down all by yourself, boss.

2. "left-wing defamation books?"
As opposed to "right wing defamation" television shows, I presume.

3. O'Reilly is an asshole.
Repukes hate everybody, but they especially hate wealthy Dems. You'd never hear O'Reilly tell Wayne Newton to "give it up" when it comes to his fortune. And O'Reilly certainly isn't parting with any of his considerable cash to bring down the deficit.

O'Reilly should take his own advice and "Shut up, shut up..."

4. Bush claims to be a "compassionate conservative" so why
doesn't O'Reilly demand that Bush give away all his money?

6. And with that piece...
Bill O'Reilly has moved into sole possession of the #1 position as the most mind-roastingly lame individual on the planet. When it comes to lame, Bill O'Reilly has "Excellence of Execution".

Bill O'Reilly is truly The Mt. Everest of Lame.

8. The GOOP Is Scared Shitless Of This Tour...
A good portion of this tour is aimed right at voters they can't reach or measure...young voters...first time voters. It could be another 100,000 on the rolls or another 5,000,000...there's no way of knowing or guessing and that's got the beltway types quakin'.

The Repugnicans can't deny there's been a groundswell of grassroots activities on our side over the past two years that they have nothing to counter with. Various organization efforts, from meetups to the Russell Simmons efforts and now Bruce's tour there has to be an effect.

There are those who say it was the MTV Rock the Vote in '92 that saw an increase in 18-24 year voters that helped give Clinton his margin of victory, and that was with less of an effort than we're seeing right now.

Archie Bunker O'Reilly is gonna fight to the bitter end...he has to, his career depends on it. He has to keep his little Faux treehouse on top or fade into total obscurity. To keep that treehouse up there he's gonna fabricate and spin like a top.

Watching him tonight with Krugman, I could see how he felt proud of himself. He believes in his popularity above facts or substance. Who cares if Krugman wrapped him up in 50 different ways, O'Reilly was able to outshout him and to him and his horde, this means he won the arguement.

We're making plans to go see Mellencamp in Milwaukee. I hear there are a lot of special guests who will be appearing, too. Damn right the Repugnicans are scared. "Hollywood Kharma" is coming to get them.

10. Let's hope they don't get the Amish vote.
They might use the theme song "I Can't Drive 55" Or "Barn To Be Wild".

12. Who are these people and what are they doing on
Edited on Sun Aug-08-04 04:16 AM by NightOwwl
Bruce Springsteen's forum. I can't believe they've been long time fans. There is one that is particulary offensive, you will know it when you see it.

14. Worse
I don't think any of those people EVER listened to a Springsteen album. They certainly missed Nebraska and Darkness on the Edge of Town.

15. O'Reilly is the king of all focus-group-buzzword type semanicists .
"devide wealth" is a new one to me. Did Frank Luntz come up with that one or did O'Reilly pen it himself?
