So, There Is A Disabled Vet Doing Odd Jobs For My Neighbor - He Is PISSED
he is staying at my neighbors for a couple of days. doing odd jobs. she went to Buffalo for the weekend and her kid (twenty something) decided to have a party. we invited the vet over for a beer on the back porch to get away from the 'little hoodlums'

anyhoo, he noticed my Kerry sign in the window and started going OFF on Bush. Veteran's bennies has him FUMING. he has chronic back problems and told us a story of when he was driving through Wyoming on his way to Montana. His back acted up (this was in the 90's) and he stopped at a VA hospital for a prescription refill.

"15 minutes and I was out of there with a new prescription", he said. Recently, his back went out again and he hit a hospital in RI. Denied. They apparently wouldn't even look him up in the computer system. Refused. No money in the budget.

Anyway, he hangs out at VFW's around the country and said that the VAST MAJORITY of older vets can't stomach Bush any more. They are ACTIVELY pulling for Kerry as is their families.

He was quite animated railing against Bush and that was even BEFORE his 3rd beer :). just thought i would share

3. Wyoming is
the most beautiful place in North America. I'm biased, I've lived here for 32 years (my life). We call it God's Country.

4. My brother is an Air Force Vet
spent almost 25 years in the Air Force - I have finally gotten him to admit that he is not happy with Bush - but can't get him to support Kerry - and he needs to be way more disapproving of Bush than he is - although he isn't going to vote for him. For the life of me I can't understand how any vet could stomach Bush at all - a great mystery. I'll continue to work on my brother - as a matter of fact I might copy and paste your post to an email for him....

5. Wyoming is beautiful indeed

Yellowstone is the most beautiful place I've ever been to in my life.

I'm sure Dick Cheney wants to place an oil rig in the middle of the Tetons though.

How much have they destroyed the environment there in the last few years?

He was campaigning in Arkansas, and railing against Kerry and Edwards for blocking his energy bill.

6. Votes
He doesn't have to vote for Kerry. If someone doesn't vote for my enemy that's the same as getting an extra vote. If they vote for us, its like getting two votes. I'll settle for just getting one extra vote. Two would be nice, but lets not get greedy.

11. Well when you share genetics
with someone - you'd like them to do the right thing so I'll keep trying. However - he lives in Alabama so it really won't make a difference.

12. I don't get it either. Clinton applied for his deferment, Bush got one on
his pappy's pull, joined the Air National Guard with no intention of ever going to Viet Nam but knew he would have to appear to be a military man for his future. On the other hand, the super hawk military man, Ronald Reagan, never fought anywhere either, took his props as an "acting military man" and sat behind a radio mike like it was heroism.
Now never mind that Cheney "had other things to do." Military service only counts when they want to use the lack of it against a Dem.

10. That story boiled my blood!
The way veterans and people in the armed services are treated by this administration is reprehensible. Of course, I have always thought that vets (disabled or otherwise) have been mistreated all throughout the history of the U.S., but that is a rant for another post. How can we call ourselves a society when we neglect our most vulnerable citizens?

13. I know of one vet (former Bush voter) who is also ticked off about this.
And will probably vote Kerry.

14. Vietnam brothers-in-law are furious
Both my brothers-in-laws who served in Vietnam Nam are livid. They make me look moderate. One was pounding on kitchen counter saying that we have to get Bush out this time. Comparing Iraq to Vietnam. Said most of the vets from my hometown feel just like him.

The other one was a medic in Vietnam and is well off. His lawyer and stock broker attended his wedding. You'd think he'd be a republican but believe me he wants Bush gone now.

I honestly don't know one veteran who is for Chimp.

15. Noticed a number of growing bumperstickers...unfortunately
They are the "I'm A Veteran and I Do Not Support Kerry". Of course to see the age of the dudes driving the trucks, I'd say that the only combat they ever saw was in whichever bar was closest to their base!!! Must admit though that there are more and more Kerry bumper stickers and/or shots at Bush on bumper stickers and very, very, very few Bush/Cheney stickers.
