"Balderdash" (Fl. rep conv. secret delegates)

http://www.sptimes.com/2004/08/07/Columns/State_GOP_s_secrets_c.shtml

State GOP's secrets can't hide party's problems

Maybe they can wear hoods. Or disappear into the witness protection program.

After all, they are only nominating a candidate for president of the United States.

Florida's Republican Party is keeping the names of delegates to the national convention in New York a secret lest a terrorist decide to blow them up. A few names - obviously the braver ones - are being dribbled out one or two at a time by party spokesman Joseph Agostini.

-snip-

Since some delegates had expressed concern about having their names released "in this post 9/11 world," party chairwoman Carole Jean Jordan decided to let each delegate decide whether to be identified.

-snip-

Okay. Fast forward one day. Agostini calls to direct our attention to the words of Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie, who told reporters in Washington that the party fears some delegates might be the target of protests.

Protests?

God forbid that someone might walk past one of the delegates with dirty words on a sign. It might offend their tender sensibilities.
-snip-
-------------------------

they are all nuts

is it legal to keep them secret?

1. One of them is CANF terrorist Feliciano M. Foyo

Do a Google search on Feliciano M. Foyo, and you'll find out that he was a past Fla. repug elector, and was selected again earlier this year (I posted a thread).

The Cuban American National Foundation is well-represented on the GOP's list of presidential electors from Florida by CANF's treasurer, Feliciano M. Foyo, who happens to be a good friend of Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Foyo has another friend named Luis Posada Carriles, one of the most notorious terrorists among Cuban expatriots. In an autobiography published in Honduras in 1994, Posada names Feliciano Foyo as one of his financial backers. What does it mean to be one of Posada's financiers?

Iran/ Contra/ cocaine, Ollie North, Orlando Bosch, terra ops IN the USA, anti Cuba terror ops, assassinations..... its all there.

Not really, just over informed I guess? This is what I posted yesterday when the story broke:

2. I've got a secret...
It's questionable whether this is legal -- these are, after all, people who ran for a public office (delegate). there's no question it's unethical though. People have a right to know who has stood for these public offices. Even some of the delegates apparently think it's ludicrous. Besides, their names were previously available on the BC04 and Republican Party Florida web sites, so what have they gained?

Just one more thing to add to the Bushies' wholesale march toward the policies of the old Soviet Union.

4. delegate names already known...
here's the article

Delegate Names Already Available, Tampa Trib, Aug. 7, 2004

Republican leaders defend an unusual decision to try to shield the names of Florida delegates to their party's national convention, citing privacy and security concerns.

Some delegates see the action as pointless, though - particularly because the names were available two months ago on the Republican Party of Florida's Web site.
