Need some DU help re FICA tax deductibility.
Got yet another copy of the e-mail re Social Security and the wicked Dems trying to tax it or give it away to those ferreners. Snopes takes care of everything except for one thing:

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

I have been searching google all morning trying to find out if FICA withholding was ever a deduction for personal income taxes. Does anyone know the answer to this question?

Thanks.

I know some will tell me to just ignore it or tell them to prove it, but this one is again from my sister (at least the third time she has sent this), and I am planning on responding, again, to all, with the snopes info and this info as well. I am just tired of her sending me the same crap over and over again. She has become the ultimate dittohead and Stepford Wife, which makes me sick.

1. visit www.ssa.gov

Myth 3: President Roosevelt promised that the money the participants elected to put into the program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year

There was never any provision of law making the Social Security taxes paid by employees deductible for income tax purposes. In fact, the 1935 law expressly forbid this idea, in Section 803 of Title VIII.

(The text of Title VIII. can be found elsewhere on our website.)

2. Never deductible, for federal
or for state purposes, at least for California state purposes.
