Some strange things in CNN's Chalabi story about 30 mins ago.
First of all, the reporter, Matthew Chance, was wearing a bulletproof vest. Did Iraqis have to wear bulletproof vests before we invaded? Doesn't the Bush administration say Iraq is better off now?

Next, they showed an interview with Salem Chalabi with an "interpreter" but I think I could hear Salem C. speaking in English through the "interpretation."

And then, when Carol Linn asked the reporter to explain why Allawi is granting amnesty to non-violent criminals but going after the Chalabis for non-violent crime (forgery, etc.) his EARPIECE STOPPED WORKING and she cut away.

Did anyone else see this stuff?

1. Where is the media OUTRAGE?
Can you imagine if a Democratic Administration had had such close dealings with an international criminal and went to war basically on his say so. Now it appears the whole effort to oust Saddam at the cost of thousands of lives and billions of dollars was partly to provide money making opportunities for the Chalabi family.
Why does Judith Miller still have a job? Or any of the other talking heads that have been spewing Chalabi's misinformation for the past few years? Or Dick Cheney for that matter?

Where is the outrage? Where are the multi million dollar investigations by Congress?

What would Hannity, Rush and company be screaming now about a Democratic administration carelessly blowing the cover of an operative that had infiltrated Al Queda?

Where is the outrage? Where are the multi million dollar investigations by Congress?

2. Very good questions.
Every day, more people wake up and see the truth but I just hope it's fast enough to save us.

3. Media=RNC
there is no separation.

It's like if you want to work in the great outdoors, because you love wildlife and the only job you can find is as a game warden. You've got your dream job, but you're working against the values you stand for just to pay the bills. Witness Krugman on Meet the Press. Enough Said.

4. I heard Salem speak earlier - perfect English
I did hear one reporter today say that all Americans are targets now, "including journalists" he said, so that would explain the vest.

I'm sure Salem Chalabi was raised here. His father came to the U.S. as a child and went to American schools and didn't return to Iraq until now.

I still wonder who is after Chalabi. Is it the CIA, or the Bushies?
