ABC news tonight....Admin forced to reveal Khan's name...
because they were under (slight little twist of the mouth here) "political pressure" about the terror alerts.

Shut up, Dr. Dean. Look what you are making them do...all your fault.

Well, just sort of kidding, they did not say his name but they did not have to.

3. that sounds very damning! did ABC News really say that so bluntly?
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 06:44 PM by frank frankly
ON EDIT: Doesn't that make Condi's statement earlier a lie?

They fucked up and had to admit it. They can blame whoever they want.

They did not say names at all. But they did not really have to at all.
They said the admin was under political pressure about the alerts. Well, since only one person spoke out...Dean...then it is all his durn fault.

I am not sure how they meant it. Don't know the names of the anchors. I do, but forgot.

10. Politics should have NOTHING to do with this. Their Number One job
is to keep this country safe -- even if they have to lose face. No matter how they paint this -- it is b*shit!

11. I heard the beginnings of the "blame it on the Dems"
talking point a couple of days ago. Unfortunately I can't find a link, but it was from either Fox or CNN. The White House was saying:

1) Democrats were making accusations that the alert was politically motivated.
2) White House felt pressured by the Dems to capture someone fast.
3) The guy they captured turned out to be part of a sting operation.
4) If there hadn't been so much pressure, they would have waited before arresting a possible suspect.

See the logic? It's the Democrats fault! I'll keep looking for a link.

12. I don't know about you all, but...
I'm kind of feelin' like I could leap tall buildings in a single bound these days. Who knew we had such power?

Pressuring the Bushies to trash an undercover operation. The other day we were responsible for the price of a gallon of gas. I think we're the ones who forced Dick Cheney to say "fuck you," too.

Dude, we rock! Let's go out and kick some republican ass!

13. ABC makes you pay to see the videos.
I can't find the summary yet either.

Yes, that is what they are doing, blaming the Dems. Then the Dems will all turn and point their fingers at Dean, who spoke the truth.

And do it will go on and on.

15. Sorry, it was a republican
This weekend CNN and MSNBC kept showing clips of a republican (face familiar, can't remember the name...and thought he was a Dem!), who went ballistic about this and said they blew a tremendous souce from undercover people to use as political fodder. Apparently, this was an important source so we could keep some tabs on what bin Laden and the boys were up to. But it was more important to protect Bush's ass since he was being criticized. Ahhhhh....another terrible thing that just flew right over the average American's head without any notice......

17. Oh, and CNN "made them invade IraqNam"
They didn't want to but that had to because the news was all "let's go invade Iraq" so, Smirk as commander in chief had no choice.

19. Found this paragraph at Kos.
I heard the "political pressure" words for sure from Ross, with a hint of grin.

SNIP..." know there's been some debate about just who did the leaking (who leaked and who just "confirmed")-- but I'm watching ABC World News Tonight and Brian Ross just said, bluntly, that it was a U.S. official who leaked Khan's name -- on background -- "without the usual restrictions, such as 'don't use the name.'" When Elizabeth Vargas (anchoring) asked why anyone would do this, Ross' explanation was the administration's need to justify the immediacy of the information behind the recent terror alert.(then he said under "political pressure.)

20. Maintaining political power #1 goal for Bush
Keeping political power is more important to the Bush administration than breaking up al Queda and fighting terrorism. I firmly believe that.

21. Like the pressure they were under...
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 08:26 PM by scottxyz
...to reveal who Cheney met with at his secret energy meetings?

...to hold off on invading Iraq until at least inspections were done?

...to reconsider their unpopular restrictions stem-cell research?

...to investigate how Enron plunged California into a phony energy crisis?

...to upgrade the security at our ports?

...to get to the bottom of Sibel Edmonds' accusations?

...and all the other things where they've gone their own way off a cliff.

This adminstration doesn't budge for ANYBODY

Least of all for Howard Dean!
