Tonight's Nightline: Jake Tapper reports on the Swift Boat veterans.
from the Nightline Daily e-mail:

-----
"...Correspondent Jake Tapper will take a look at the dispute, the dueling groups of swift boat veterans, and the political connections on both sides. He'll also try to sort out the accuracy of the claims on both sides, although, as I said above, I don't expect that to satisfy anyone. And I don't say that with any happiness. Correspondent Mike Cerre, himself a veteran of Vietnam, will look at the split within the Vietnam veteran community as a whole. And does this dispute matter to other voters?

Michel Martin will anchor tonight. Will we answer people's questions about this? That's certainly our intention. Will we bring back civility to this debate, or any other? I'm not that naïve."
-----

Jake Tapper used to do great work for Salon.com. He might have been the best journalist covering the Florida recount in 2000. The first place I ever heard of a hanging chad was from him, days ahead of the mainstream media. He has since moved to ABC, and what little I've seen of him has been a breath of fresh air.

1. Civility ? WTF
Are you kidding...that makes it sound as though this is a petty dispute between to equally valid positions.

It's these SwiftBoatJerks that are slingin the mud...Kerry's supporters are simply trying to defend him against these disgusting charges.

Turning the other cheek does not work in politics...especially when the people doing the mud slinging have absolutely no regard whatsoever for the truth!!!

2. The fact that they are even reporting on this gives the story
too much credibility. It's only making waves because the media is keeping it front and center, and Nightline is wrong for doing a show on this subject.

3. Ugh...
ABC/Disney/ESPN giving free advertising to the Bushies again. Did anyone catch Bush on that ESPN Baseball mini-series? He's on there, like, every ten minutes.

Must have got the "Look kid, you can go a long way in this business, but here's what you need to start doing" speech and sucked it all up.
