If you missed Dean telling Hannity to watch Outfoxed......video clip.

This is from the convention floor.
He defines the message by avoiding certain questions and changing the conversation to what he wants to talk about. Pretty good.

7. Hannity buying time to keep his "fans" from the best speech of the DNC!
It was a floor filibuster of Jimmy Carter. Dean should have said "shut the fuck up and listen to a great American ... a Nobel Peace Prize winner! Just shut the fuck up Hannity."

No one affiliated with the Democratic Party should ever give an interview over even the introduction of a keynote speaker like Carter. It is socially rude and politically insane.

9. There was a timing issue of which Dean was not aware.
I watched it when it happened, and there were comments about it. Dean realized Carter was coming up. I suspect Hannity was more to blame. Dean campaigned for Carter and admires him.

10. Dean, as much as I like him, should have cut Hannity off ...
"Sorry, Sean, interview over for the speech of a great President!" Neither were deaf nor blind.

14. Whatever?
You'se guys said: "Dean realized Carter was coming up. I suspect Hannity was more to blame."

I agree! Where does Dean have any obligation to be the least bit civil to one of the most antagonistic, un-informed, ultra-right-wing mouthpieces in the history of un-regulated cable TV? Why should a admitted hater of our party be allowed to wax on, with a former Presidential candidate of the Democratic party as a Nobel-winning former Democratic President is being introduced and starts talking? If Dr. Dean doesn't realize that he is out of the spotlight, the hook needs to come out from stage left.

17. I think you are way out of line on that.

There were interviews going on all over the floor. I think your anger is out of line here.

What you said here:
QUOTE: "Why should a admitted hater of our party be allowed to wax on, with a former Presidential candidate of the Democratic party as a Nobel-winning former Democratic President is being introduced and starts talking? If Dr. Dean doesn't realize that he is out of the spotlight, the hook needs to come out from stage left."

See, that is the problem. He may not be in the "party" spotlight, but he is very much in demand. He has a right to interview whomever he pleases whenever he pleases. At least in that point in time, for a short few minutes....he kept Hannity from quite as much bashing of our side because he owned the conversation.

You imply that Dean has no right to be heard now. I do not see where you get that. There were interviews all over the floor that night and every night during every speech.

12. Notice that Hannity says,
"You say that about we weren't telling the truth..." WE? What kind of journalist identifies so strongly with Republicans in power?

The FOX kind!

13. Wow- nice work by Dean. That's the way to handle those guys.
Dean didn't allow Hannity to lead him around from one Republican talking point to the next. He just stayed on one point and hammered it until that dumbass finally realized he was losing and ended the segment.

16. DemoTex, they weren't going to cover Carter's speech anyway.
If they weren't interviewing Dean, they would've been talking amongst themselves, trying to determine whether Kerry is the anti-Christ, or just evil.

18. Cat, I just watched it for the 10th time and I am happy to say ...
With 100% certainty, that FOX cut Jimmy Carter off. The Hannity/Dean interview was much more important. That is a travesty. Hannity had the ear-piece on, but Dean had to know what was coming down on the floor. Obviously Hannity goaded Dean; more obviously Dean should have shut him down.

However, CatAtomic, most of your evaluation rings true with mine. Hang, please, 'till Nov. 2. We'll beat that Bu$h bastard!

19. Congratulations to the governor
for not just holding his ground, but taking it to Hannity and Fox. It looked to me like Hannity got a little uncomfortable when Dean mentioned "Outfoxed." I'm sure all the drones at Fox have been ordered not to talk about the film, as a way of minimizing publicity.

21. Christ. Dean and Clark could win this election. Here's how.
The DNC should compile DVDs of Dean's and Clark's greatest hits--how they call the whores on their bias ON AIR, how they insist on defining the message, how they can attack without sounding like rethuglicans--in other words the three keys to beating the whores on TV. The DVD should be labeled--"DO THIS."

If twenty Dem surrogates are willing and able to approach interviews like Dean and Clark, Kerry would win by five points.

23. Excellent madfloridian!
Thanks for this post. Dean handled that little Nazi very well and got the message to all those FOX viewers that the President told lies about WMD. Little by little, interviews with intelligent people like Dean, that get airtime on Faux News, will chip away at the illusion that IS Bush&Co.
