Toronto Star: "Stewarts gets serious, why won't reporters?"
Very good article.

SNIP..."U.S. journalists keep kid gloves on
ANTONIA ZERBISIAS

Do not adjust your set: U.S. TV journalists are finally asking politicians the tough questions they should have been posing in the run-up to the attack on Iraq.

Trouble is, more often than not, they're asking those questions of Democrats.

For example, two Sundays ago, which should have been a good press day for the John Kerry-John Edwards team on a post-convention high, along came another terror alert. That afternoon former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean told CNN that he was "concerned that every time something happens that's not good for President Bush, he plays this trump card, which is terrorism."

The next morning, there was CNN's Bill Hemmer hammering John Kerry, demanding to know if he was "distancing'' himself from Dean's remark."END SNIP

Yeh, Hemmer should have been asking questions about why the administration was doing this...Good article from the Star.

More:SNIP..."The Bush administration continues to massacre the truth with almost no contradiction from the media. Last week, there was Vice-President Dick Cheney, lying again, in a speech in Minnesota, where he repeated the popular Republican refrain of how Kerry and Edwards are the number one and four "most liberal'' members of the Senate."

1. Antonia is one of the best media critics out there....
I'm fairly convinced she reads lefty blogs, alot of her stuff wouldn't be out of place posted here, or atrios, or kos, or TPM.

2. I am reading some more of her columns now. She is great.
I found a reference to the New England Journal of Medicine article about doctors keeping silent over torture in Iraqi prisons. I may post it separately. She is good.

4. Jon highlights the best parts of the lies Bush tells
but to really enjoy it you have to be keeping up with AAR and The Guardian.
