anyone know if Bush will campaign with Alan Keyes ?
Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 07:24 AM by JI7
i know the campaign probably has written off the state mostly and wont spend time there as they would in ohio, michigan and other states, but they are still campaigning with republican candidates for different offices in states most likely to go democratic in a presidential race.

does anyone know if keyes will be one of those ? if so it's our chance to show bush as extremist. but if he doesn't how about we use it against bush to hurt him with his right wing extremist base ? how he isn't sticking up for god or the unborn or whatever else may discourage them from turning out for him on election day. many of these people will never vote for kerry, but if we can just get them to not vote or vote third party that would be good also since it would mean bush losing part of his base.

and of course if he does campaign with keyes we can use it to discourage moderate voters from voting for him.

anyway i look at it, it sure can't hurt democrats, especially obama and kerry in illinios so lets exploit it to our benefit in other states also.

1. I doubt it
Everything suggests that Keyes is running only to wound Obama for the future. So Keyes will hit hard and dirty, knowing he will lose. I seriously doubt Keyes will even establish residence in Illinois. He will have a lease ready to sign for election day, but will never sign it or move to the state.

2. So we go to the Republican base...
and tell them that Bush doesn't stick for their values and that they should instead look towards the Constitution Party... basically do what they're doing with Ralph Nader.

Is this your general idea?

4. Bunnypants Is Barely Welcome In Illinois
I expect either Bunnypants or Crashcart to come through if there's any chance that Keyes can stop the bleeding of the Illinois GOOP and hold on to some of the state's house seats that the GOOP could lose thanks to all the disenchanted Repugnicans here.

Guaranteed, Boy Blunder will do a quick photo op/stop over in some very safe Repugnican suburb but he won't be tauting Keyes...he'll be here trying to save the asses of Henry Hyde, Jerry Weller and Phil Crane. Keyes will try to horn in on the action to get some national camera time, but I doubt few are gonna want to come close to the trainwreck that's happening here.

To make matter worse, Keyes calling Obama a "Plantation Black" and trying to take him down on race is going over with a major thud here. Besides the question of who is this bastard to come into our state since the GOOP couldn't find anyone in this state who was foolish enough to run with an extremely splintered party and pay for the privilidge to get beat. Here Keyes gets his campaign debts retired and plays sacraficial lamb.

Latest polls show Obama at 69% of likely voters and I could see that go even higher as Keyes tries to make national headlines by insulting all sorts of groups around Illinois. This guy is so out of step even with the Repugnicans here it'll be fun after the election to watch their blame game as to who OK'd bringing in this mercenary.

In 2000 Bunnypants tried a whistle stop tour through what he thought was safe downstate Illinois areas and was met by protestors. When he or Crashcart comes into town, they do so very quietly. Meanwhile Edwards was in town yesterday and there was lots of TV and media coverage. Mark my words right now...Kerry could take 60% in this state now...and he's got Bunnypants and Alan Keyes to thank for that.
