Hey Robert Novak,
Here that knock at the door? See that twinkling light in the corner of your eye? Thats your career going out, the knock, thats the men with badges coming to take your rummy-ass to jail.

"A judge is holding Matthew Cooper in contempt of court for refusing to testify about the leak of a covert C-I-A officer's identity."

"Novak mentioned Plame's name about a week after a newspaper published an opinion piece by her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, that criticized President Bush."

2. My understanding
...is that the target of a Grand Jury investigation is seldom called before them to testify. I hope that that warms your heart as much as it does mine. ;)

4. can anybody suggest where to write to help influence
someone that Novak needs to be tried?

Wait, let me guess...this could be played out in a big "1st amendment" case in the SC and it could "prove" that *'s administration is indeed "protecting the constitution".

7. At the VERY least, why isn't he suffering professionally?
Nothing has changed. Nothing. I still see him on CNN, I still see him on the various news shows (Meet the Press is one he frequents). He still has his newspaper column. And yet...his career is thriving as ever. Why?

8. Looks like it might happen
Lawyers involved in the case said it appears that Fitzgerald is now armed with a strong and unambiguous court ruling to demand the testimony of two journalists -- syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak, who first disclosed the CIA officer's name, and Washington Post reporter Walter Pincus, who has written that a Post reporter received information about her from a Bush administration official.

9. If 9/11 "changed everything" as the Bush regime likes to say when they
tramp on the Consitution under the guise of the Patriot Act, then why do protections for journalist still apply? Novak, Russert, and Cooper and a few others should be tried for treason.

12. Reporters protect their sources.
There's been several reporters who have gone to jail rather than give up their sources. They wear it as a badge of honour and it typically doesn't last very long. Be it left, right, or in the middle, when the preception that a reporter's first amendment rights are being violated comes to light, the journalistic community all seem to band together because they believe if it's not nipped in the bud that one day it will be them. So will Novak get in trouble? I say highly unlikely.
