Like watching the cobra & the mongoose. How far will this guy go in crossing the regime.

Chalabi's one slick dude...he's on CNNservative right after the indictments come down...getting in the first shot and now this guy pushing his case. Looks like PNAC fingers at work.

4. Watch Closely...
...you won't see Doug Feith's lips move...what a great act.

Is this gonna lead to open warfare between DOD/PNAC & the CIA?

12. It's Blood Money
This guy is a war profiteer and wants to keep his gravy train running. Beyond sickening.

There are areas in this country where 10K is an annual income. And 10K a month in Baghdad sure buys a lot of influence.

17. beat me........here's cooperative research
surprised? he was the PR guy for the INC!!

2001-2003 Complete Iraq timeline

The US intelligence community—most notably the intelligence gatherers working in the Pentagon offices under Douglas Feith (see September 2002) —bases several of its intelligence assessments concerning Iraq on information offered by the Iraqi National Congress (INC) and by Iraqi defectors provided by the INC, despite warnings from the State Department and some CIA analysts that the lobbying group cannot be trusted.

Some of the INC's intelligence on Iraq's alleged arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and Saddam?s supposed ties to terrorists are reportedly funneled directly to the office of Vice President Dick Cheney by Francis Brooke, the DC lobbyist for the group. Brooke will later acknowedge that the information provided by the INC was driven by an agenda. “I told them , as their campaign manager, ‘Go get me a terrorist and some WMD, because that's what the Bush administration is interested in.’ ” Brooke had previously worked for the Rendon Group, “a shadowy CIA-connected public-relations firm.”
People and organizations involved: Dick Cheney, Douglas Feith, Frank Gaffney, Francis Brooke

20. The Usual Suspects, Eh??? LOL
Here's some more I found...cuberats...read up...

In December 2001, Bloomberg News reported that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz and other current Bush advisers had advocated Hussein's overthrow since the Gulf War, when they served then-President George H.W. Bush. "Given the passion with which I have heard them argue this point, I would be surprised, now that they are in power, if they didn't eventually get around to it," Brooke told Bloomberg.<2>

Ha'aretz reported in late March 2003 that Brooke had acted as an unofficial U.S. envoy to Iran. "Iranian reports indicate ... that diplomatic messages have been transmitted between the U.S. and Iran via Francis Brooke, the American public relations assistant to Ahmed Chalabi, head of the Iraqi National Congress, the umbrella organization of the Iraqi opposition. Brooke was warmly welcomed in Iran before the war began, mainly thanks to his connections with Condoleezza Rice and with other senior members of the American administration. Brooke theoretically visited Iran as a participant in the conference of the heads of Iraqi opposition in Iran, but he was the only American to visit Iran recently who was not fingerprinted, as has become customary in Iran following similar U.S. treatment of Iranian citizens visiting America. Brooke met with the Iranian foreign minister and with other important people and clarified that the U.S. has no intentions of targeting Iranian installations," Ha'aretz wrote.

Unofficial U.S. envoy to Iran? WTF????

23. whoaaaa.... he's got some BALLS, eh?
sounds like he's could be DIRECTLY involved in this espionage deal, eh?

great catch

and what an oily, unctuous creep he is, too

just what one would expect

the sad thing is that these frickin LIARS get to come on WITHOUT somebody knowledgeable from the other side, to refute the lies they spew

callers don't have the knowledge to set the record straight, and on the rare occasion they do, they only get to pose a question, allowing the guest to spin it any way they like

I hate that dialogue-free format

27. At Least We Get Informed...
If anything WJ shows the real seamy underside of the beltway...and many times without even knowing it. It's not a bad thing to bring these weasels out...especially the dangerous ones like this traitor (and isn't what he was doing against the law???) operate in plain sight.

Here's hoping a heads-up blogger like Josh Marshall or Kos or Will pick up on this guy and maybe there can be some real digging here. This guy and that Rendon could be linked to a lot of messes, considering this story goes back to BCCI days.

I'm in spin overload. LOL!

that it's a balanced plate, but that they DON'T keep track

well, if they know it's balanced, why don't they KEEP track, and how can they know if they DON'T?

day after day after day it's two loons to one MOR dem type

when do you ever see the left version of Horowitz. Is there one?

the policitcal dialogue in this country is very well represented by those whom you see on Washinton Journal

22. We've Gotta Build Our Own Machines...
Hopefully this is where George Soros' money could help.

We're so woefully behind on media manipulation and many still prefer to stick their heads in the sand rather than work to get an alternative message out there.

But at least we're not as far back as we were a year ago.

when's the last time you saw Robert Parry on?

Russ Mokhiber?

somebody like them? it's always Terry Jeffrey of Jonass Goldberg

they CHOOSE to have a pleth of wingnuts

and they refuse to admit it

too bad somebody hasn't been keeping track

you're totally correct about our own echo chamber, though

26. Yes...But Democrats Have To Be Where The Cameras Are, Too
We're currently outgunned by PR saavy Lee Atwater zombies who are very disciplined and aren't afraid to fight dirty now and worry about what happens later. Clinton really hit this nail on the head on TDS last night.

For years liberals attempted to downplay and ignore the growing right wing media machine and avoid engaging them. We now see how this has created a beltway media culture you very well describe that blows to the right as that's the people who are constantly in their sights and in their ears.

The Krugman/O'Reilly mudbath is a textbook example. "Style" over substance. The truth takes hours, a lie takes seconds. Emotion and soundbites over specifics and nuances.

Right now there are a lot of sheep in the beltway...not wanting to rock the boat or lose their access or to hold on to their tenuous jobs. This regime has effectively cowerd a lot of people whose going to remain biased to the right as long as they control so much of the government and power.

A Kerry election will change this dynamic drastically, but honestly I'm not sure in a good direction, unless we have almost a counter AEI/Heritage type spin machine that cranks out policy zombies.

Cheers!

surprised? a NOBID fricking PR contract with the DOD???????

I am not a National Security strategist or a military tactician," says John W. Rendon, Jr., whose DC-based PR firm was recently hired by the Pentagon to win over the hearts and minds of Arabs and Muslims worldwide.

"I am a politician," Rendon said in a 1998 speech to the National Security Conference (NSC), "and a person who uses communication to meet public policy or corporate policy objectives. In fact, I am an information warrior, and a perception manager. This is probably best described in the words of Hunter S. Thompson, when he wrote 'When things turn weird, the weird turn pro.'"

The Rendon Group's contract with the Pentagon was awarded on a no-bid basis, reflecting the government's determination to hire a firm already versed in running overseas propaganda operations. Rendon specializes in "assisting corporations, organizations, and governments achieve their policy objectives." Past clients include the CIA, USAID, the government of Kuwait, Monsanto Chemical Company, and the official trade agencies of countries including Bulgaria, Russia, and Uzbekistan.

"Through its network of international offices and strategic alliances," the Rendon Group website boasts, "the company has provided communications services to clients in more than 78 countries, and maintains contact with government officials, decision-makers, and news media around the globe."

28. DU'ers dug up alot of info on Francis Brooke awhile back. Total evil
character. Thanks for posting the snip about him. He's one nasty dude and was on with "Steve" whom I've always felt was a RWinger host on C-Span. Brooke is younger than I thought, but what a slick, slime of a guy. The perfect person to represent the Slick/Sliming Chalabi's.

The Disinformation program has begun.
