i'm in cincinnati yesterday....
and i'm walking down the street, and i see this guy sitting in his pickup truck doing something on a laptop. no big deal... then i notice on the side of the truck in big ,bold , letters "DIEBOLD" and of course the phone number. so as i walk on by, i turn around and look at the back of the truck and see BIG "bush/cheney" bumperstickers! now isn't diebold the outfit that doing the voting machines?

1. Well, the president of the company
did say he would deliver Ohio for Bush.

My neighborhood in Cincinnati still uses the butterfly ballots.

4. I think that was the original product.
Locks and safes, possibly cash registers.

Not to worry -- nobody's using anything from Diebold in Ohio this year, and only a few counties (granted, one of them is the big one in Columbus, Franklin County) are using any. Sequoia, I think, has six counties, I don't know if there are any others using EV at all in Ohio this year.

We use one-sided 'butterfly' style ballets in my neck of the woods, too. While I'd prefer a Sanford Sharpie and a sheet of paper, I'm comfortable with the punch cards, since they're easy to read, only being printed on one side here.

5. Diebold machines will be used in GA
and some other places, so even though the bumper sticker sighting was in Cincinnati, that's not a reassuring sign. Too bad you didn't get a photo. That would be great to submit along with a LTTE.
