Aaron Brown & Bill O'Lielly: our freedom of the press in-action:
Robert Kennedy Jr. was scheduled to interview on both programs.

"Fox TV host Bill O'Reilly agreed to schedule him, but only with the explicit proviso that he wouldn't say critical things about George W. Bush ..... Later, Fox decided that even this was too risky..."

" Aaron Brown of CNN had scheduled RFK, but had a producer call at the last minute to "cancel" because he didn't want Robert to discuss Bush's environmental record on his show. Aaron substituted a segment on Michael Jackson instead.

CNN - the news you can trust, right?

2. Robert Kennedy Jr.'s
book: Crimes Against Nature

See pages 183-186 of his book. For example: "Fox TV host Bill O'Reilly agreed to schedule me, but only with the explicit proviso that I wouldn't say critical things about George W. Bush ..... Later, Fox decided that even this was too risky..." Also: "I was most disappointed by Aaron Brown of CNN." Brown had scheduled RFK, but had a producer call at the last minute to "cancel" because he didn't want Robert to discuss Bush's environmental record on his show. Aaron substituted a segment on Michael Jackson instead.

8. Read chapter 10 of Robert's new book .....
He gives detailed information, which is well-documented, about the extreme right-wing, corporate control of the major medias at this time. While I think that each of the 11 chapters is extremely important, chapter 10 alone is worth the price of the book.

The major "main stream" medias are not reporting the truth on a wide variety of issues. Rather, they "report" things like the Laci Peterson and Michael Jackson stories to dull the public's senses. There are remarkably few people with the courage to take a strong public stance. Robert Kennedy is one of them.

I said on another post that I'm an old man, and am not into hero worship or personality cults. Yet I have great respect and admiration for Robert. His book details some of the very real, very physical threats he deals with as a result of his advocating for the public. I went into more detail on the Plame threads about this. This man has the decency and bravery required to take a strong stance.

Because of this, people like Aaron Brown (CNN) and Bill O'Reilly (Fox) will not let him speak -- openly or otherwise -- about issues regarding the environment and the bush administration. And it's not simply that they won't let him give his opinion -- they won't let him talk about the facts regarding what business representatives run what administration department, and the number of federal laws this administration has repealed.

A number of DUers correctly rage against the lying, deceitful shits that run the major medias. Here is an opportunity to support a man who tells the truth. Please buy "Crimes Against Nature," by Robert Kennedy Jr., Harper-Collins, 2004.

9. H20 by the way
I was doing some checking on a nasty book coming out about
Hillary

publishers are Harper-Collins also.

Guess who owns Harper-Collins?

News Corporation.

Guess who owns News Corporation?

Rupert Murdoch.

Guess who owns Fox? awww you know.

Now you may know why Harper Collins is not giving Robert F. Kennedy, Jr the publicity tour he should have.

Does RRK Jr. know? I can't imagine he doesn't.

18. There have been numerous threads on DU regarding
the "librul" media. CNN probably received thousands of emails just from DU'ers during the DNC.

Media Matters has done a great job of exposing the right-wing bias, let's hope the trend continues.

12. This information needs to exposed.
Thanks for sharing this Pallas and H20, I suggest everybody contact all of the major networks and cable with the exact quote from Kennedy's book.

Keith may be willing to go public with this information. His email address is:

14. Good idea!
I think that Keith may see the refusal to let RFK speak about this as a story in and of itself. I certainly do. How the heck can anyone think that the effort by Time to avoid having their reporter testify to the Plame grand jury is a "freedom of the press" issue, and this is not?

I'll answer that myself. (grin) When Robert talks -- even to a somewhat suspicious republican audience -- by the time he gets his message out, he gets a standing ovation. His message is strong and clear, and it is as important to the health and welfare and well-being of those republican's families as to yours or mine.

But it is also a dangerous message, because it threatens the illegal and immoral welfare system for the business community, that snakes like dick cheney have set up.

Perhaps I should post a few high-lights on here. But I want people to buy the book. And spread the word!

16. Highlights would be a good idea H20. Then we could see
parts of the book, but I bet Amazon has that service where you
can read a page...

I heard RFK Jr. on C Span talking on this subject.

He was learned and spoke with confidence...and it was interesting.

19. Yes. Aaron Brown is a nice guy.
And he knows the difference between right and wrong. I suspect that is why Robert wrote:

"I was most disappointed with Aaron Brown of CNN. When Ted Turner owned the network, CNN was a bastion of environmental reporting in the wasteland of network news shows. Turner employed an environmental specialist, Barbara Pyle, as a full-time advocate for environmental programming. But CNN then became an AOL Time Warner property, and on the day I was scheduled to appear, one of Brown's producers called to cancel the interview. Brown, she said, was aware of my criticism of the president's environmental record and was canceling my appearance because he didn't want any 'Bush bashing' on his show. Brown, too, substituted the interview with me for a segment on Michael Jackson's sex scandal." (page 185 of Crimes Against Nature)

If it were Sean Hannity, I don't think that Robert would have been disappointed. In Sean's world, environmentalists are more dangerous that sex-offenders, hence Sean's pre-occupation with sex offenders.

But Aaron Brown knows better. Aaron Brown is not in favor of the administration's devastating 30 years of bipartison efforts to protect the environment. Aaron Brown is not in favor of children consuming food that is not fit --or safe -- for cats or dogs to eat.

But "reporters" like Brown remember that MSNBC fired Charles Grodin after he had Kennedy on his show on 11-11-96. Robert spoke bluntly about GE, the owner of NBC/MSNBC. He even commented on then-CEO Jack Welch. No one ever said that a single sentence from the show was wrong. Rather, because Robert was so accurate, Grodin was fired so quickly that he was not able to say "god bye" to his co-workers! New York "Newsday" journalist Marvin Kitman exposed the true story behind Grodin's being fired: he let Robert Kennedy tell the truth.

I think that people on DU can draw the obvious conclusions. Robert's message in 1996 was powerful. But the man is in his prime right now. And he deserves our support.

21. Making it plain!!!
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 12:52 PM by H2O Man
"While communism is the control of business by government, fascism is the control of government by business. My American Heritage Dictionary defines fascism as 'a system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership together with belligerent nationalism.' Sound familiar?"
- Robert Kennedy, Jr
