Poll: Schwarzenegger has broad support

JOSH DUBOW

Associated Press

SAN FRANCISCO - Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has the highest level of support at this stage in his term of any Californian governor in nearly 30 years, with even a plurality of Democrats backing the performance of the former action hero.

------------------------------------------------------

California and New York fall for Republicans WAY too often. Is this poll representitive? What is wrong with california, the man steals the governer seat, acts like a baby, is a shill for the Bush White House and democrats are crossing party lines to support him?

3.  The CA Democratic Party isn't doing it's job. If Kerry wins, it won't
be the party's fault. I've seen local Kerry campaign leaders and party leaders trying to sabotage his California campaign. However, the grass roots people are really making a difference. The same thing happened in 2000. If Torres had his way, Gore would have lost. It was people who weren't connected to the party structure who pulled together Gore's win. People and kids went door to door on their own and created their own signs (as the party was too cheap to spring for any until right before election). The California Kerry campaign is claiming it's too poor to do anything to help Kerry get elected.

The Party officials were really bragging about how Arnold wasn't a threat a year ago. They put a lot of effort into re-assuring the masses.

4. People like him because "Predator" is awesome.
Who wouldn't vote for a guy who can single-handedly kill an alien hunter who can turn invisible and fire lasers from his shoulder? I know I would.

5. Predator was awesome,
I wish Arnold was making movies and not scaring me by being a popular republican.

6. He hasn't done a really good movie since T2, so he may as well just retire
from public life altogether, and drive his Hummers around and swim in his pool full of money.

7. I guess he can still encourage grade schoolers to do sit-ups if he wants.
But he certainly needs to get out of the governing business.

8. HUH? Arnold has done a good movie?
:wow:

His best was Pumping Iron, where he smokes dope and talks about group (grope) sex and endless orgasms.

10. Stark and Raving
Of course, if his media coverage in CA is anything like the national coverage he got during the primaries...that would explain a lot.
