I applied for a Working Assets MBNA card after going over the entire agreement very carefully. It does appear that WA has negotiated a somewhat more consumer-friendly set of terms and conditions than you see in most credit cards these days.

What alternatives might WA have had? All the credit-card offers I get from old colleges, nonprofit organizations, etc., are with one or another of the big bad card issuers. Are there exceptions?

--Aha, should have looked at the original post more carefully...
