Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman (R!) on Olberman.
He ended up the interview with a Mafioso threat, "I'll cause that person a real big problem!." What a thug asshole!

4. I could have sworn I saw a (D) beside his name
Saw the interview, and I'd swear they had him listed as a Dem.

6. I didn't have my glasses on ... looked like an "R" to me.
Sorry. The Democrats don't need assholes like him. ARE YOU SURE HE IS A (D)?

9. It's amazing that you justify your slandering of him as "a thug" with an
utterly contextless sentance fragment and nothing else. He's one of the most sucessful mayors in the history of the country. He's exactly the kind of person we need in the party.

11. Hello!? Are you talking to "moi"? Your context is not clear.
Clear it up, please. And remember, it is hard to slander someone in print. That is usually libel.

13. Wrong. I called him a "thug asshole."
That's the way he came across on TV. I'm not dodging a goddamn thing. I am sorry I mis-identified him as a re-puke. He sure seemed like one. I am not sure that he was not identified as one. That could have been the TV network's mistake and not my eyes'.

Until he backs off his crazy rhetoric, or until you prove it was taken out of context (which it was not), I stand by my statement. Be careful who you back. I do. There are crazy Democrats just as there are crazy Repubs.

15. You're evidence for him being an "asshole thug" was your own out of contex
context sentance fragment. Reread your frigging post, because you were clearly not well thought out. You just typed some random ambiguity to demonize him.

unless he just recently switched parties. He's probably going to run for either senate or governor at some point and he'll be a shoe-in.

Here is an LA times exerpt about this "thug"
http://www.latimes.com/templates/misc/printstory.jsp?slug=la%2Dna%2Dgin13oct13§ion=%2Fnews%2Fnationworld%2Fnation
"He is the mayor, after all, who invites residents to meet him for a drink at a local bar to discuss civic issues. "Martinis With the Mayor," the sessions are called. And they've become so popular, bars clamor to host the next one."

"And gin martinis have been Oscar Goodman's companion for 38 years, which has helped endear him with constituents as a regular fellow who lives life with gusto."

"All this is to say that, in Vegas, the mayor and martinis go together like Siegfried and Roy. So when Goodman agreed to switch from his favorite gin to a brand sold by the state's largest liquor distributor in exchange for $100,000 (donated to charity, of course), there was barely a stir (which is not how he prefers his drink)."

"Goodman, who encourages only responsible drinking and designated-driver programs, has never let convention stand in the way of promotion."

"The Democrat once urged the city to endorse an Internet gambling Web site in exchange for a piece of the action. The idea was withdrawn on a technicality: Internet gambling is banned by federal law. Elected mayor in 1999 largely on his popularity as a defense attorney for mobsters, he wants to convert an old downtown post office into a mob museum."

14. He's a Democrat, very popular, and charismatic in a
unique way. LV has a city manager too, to take care of the "housekeeping" administrative things, so his job is mainly public relations and coming up with policy initiatives for the far future. He hasn't been notably successful with the latter, but as a spokesman and an open-door official he's been topnotch.

Those coments like "I'll cause them a lot of trouble," are sort of tongue-in-cheek remarks, drawing on his reputation as a former Mafia lawyer. Non-locals may not always pick up on his humor.

16. Las Vegas residents proud of him
Just had a telephone conversation with my niece in Las Vegas and she was talking about their Mayor being really pissed off with the Bush Administration and Homeland Security not warning them of possible terrorist attacks on their city.

Nevada now has 3-major reasons for ridding the country of George and Dicky. Las Vegas is the major city for entertainment in the Nation with thousands arriving daily from all over the world. Las Vegas is also listed as a building and housing boom.
Against the wishes of Nevadans, nuclear waste is being shipped to Yucca Flats and this highly volitile waste will be placed over a major fault line. The federal government in it's usual hasty under-analyzed fashion has given approval to ship this waste directly through the city of Las Vegas......the Major has informed them this would not happen under his watch.

I think the Neocon's are going to have a hard time getting votes in Nevada.
