Why does the rightwing adore their leaders?
Center, left etc we know our leaders have feet of clay. But the right can't even admit one mistake by Bush. When Reagan died they wanted name very street, mountain, after him,and have his likeness on coins! Think how scary the right would be if they had a silver tongued devil in the WH.

1. Remember
* is a doofus and they still worship him. Someone as eloquent and knowledgeable as Clinton ?

Hitler would be an amateur in comparison. Bring on Armaggeddon.

22. it's 7x24 media propaganda that makes them "like actors on the big screen"
there is no longer an investigative "facts based" media.

there are pundits, sound clips, spin and talkshows

4. Very interesting question...
I have long believed that born-again Christian types are people who NEED and WANT to be told what to do rather than have to think through things themselves. How can they stand to listen to the "preachers" on Christian radio and television and in the churches? But these preachers obviously know their clientele.

Bush*, in wanting to be the dictator, pleases these people in a profound way.
I heard a woman on C-SPAN today say that we do not need to question Bush* on Iraq because he is a man of God.

It's easier to say that than to look at lies, numbers and budgets and casualties, isn't it?

But democrats see the flaws and are thus dissillusioned and dissapointed almost constantly.

20. It's an interesting question
The same people have turned politics into the politics of personal destruction instead of talking about issues. (RW radio and TV is all name calling as far as I can tell.)

It seems like a religious argument too. "It's true because it's true."

Maybe it is a mental illness. They are incapable of seeing the truth if even thinking about the issues because they believe we are devils.

Rush has been the most destructive force in American history.

26. "Mental Illness" is, of course, a matter of opinion
I think the GOP locksteppers are sick as fuck, but one thing that we can say, is that YES, it likely that most conservatives' personalities are more likely to be 1)loyal and 2)authoritarian.

There was a study, which I'm sure that many have seen:

http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2003/07/22_politics.shtml

That helps explain this.

There's also the matter of "splitting and projecting" and "scapegoating," which is another quirky part of the totalitarian mindset.
