Goss maintained that Richard Clarke lied to 9-11 committee.
GOP leaders in Congress join attacks on Clarke

By FRANK DAVIES- Miami Herald

"There's a huge difference between what Clarke said then and now, and there may be a lie involved," said Goss, a Sanibel Republican, who added that he was "just starting" to read through Clarke's two-year-old testimony.

"He seems to be saying now that President Bush did not focus on terrorism, which is 180 degrees from what we heard and what I think the truth is," Goss added.

6. And what might Mr. Goss be doing between now and the election?
Getting rid of every damaging document that could tell us what really was going on in the summer of 2001. I hope George Tenet took the originals with him...

5. Porter Goss is the Bushco scandal du jour
Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 10:18 PM by cmorea
On tonight's PBS Newshour (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/fedagencies/july-dec04/goss_8-10.html), former CIA analyst Ray McGovern said that Goss is part of a White House cover up.

A quote:

{Porter Goss was co-chairman} of the joint committee that was the first to investigate 9/11. At the end of that committee, their final report left out all the information having to do with what the president of the United States was told prior to 9/11. The White House forbade that from being in the final report. Eleanor Hill, the executive director of that committee remonstrated loudly.

Porter Goss gave in to the White House, and so that report was ipso facto, incomplete, because it contained lots of stuff, but nothing on what the president was told before 9/11. That's proof positive to me that you've got a partisan person here who will do the bidding of the White House. And that's precisely why he's been nominated and nominated now because the controversy will now be centered on the failure of intelligence, Iraq, 9/11, failure of intelligence and no attention being given to the failure of the president.
