My take on Abortion... I am pro choice and
Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 11:18 PM by tnhatesbush
I will forever defend a woman's choice to abort her child when she chooses to do so. Whatever she does is her business and fo no one else to make her decisions for her. Whether it be early term or late term abortion, it is her choice to make, not George Bush's, not the First Baptist Church, not Jerry Falwells, and certainly not my neighbors. Funny thing about the right wing, bible thumping, southern idiots is that they will be the very first one's to allow there precious little angels have an abortion if she has some "unlady like" fun. They just do it where no one can find out about it. God, these people make me sick...... the damned hypocrisy is sickening......

try though.

3. What, no controversy?
No subtle misogynist baiting?

No whining about the unfairness of it all?

Wow, this abortion thread may be the first one ever to sink like a stone.

9. Ok, bennefit of the doubt time.
Welcome to DU. Folks around here are very touchy about abortion rights, and rightly so. We have had some very ugly brawls in here about just this topic. Trigger words like "child" when one is referring to a foetus, calling southerners "idiots", and lining up groups to be targets are old freeper tactics. You will have to forgive some of us (me included) for being overly sensitive about this issue. This is a fundamental right of a woman and must be taken seriously. Again, sorry if we misjudged you. I live down the road a way from you in north Alabama. :hi:

reaction to low post numbers. Please hang in with us!

Thanks for the insight into abortion in TN - sounds like the people you mentioned consider certain kinds of conceptions sacred and others trash.

We've been trying to figure out a way to discuss abortion up here (MN) with relatives who consider that to be the only issue, ever, in politics.

:hi:

13. Just edit this one.
Forget the discussion. You don't want to post personal stuff on the web.

You have about 20 minutes to edit. Look at the bottom of your post. There's a link that says edit. Click on that, it will open a repeat of your post. EDIT OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFO. Then post it.

16. Right to choice is not for killing children
The right to choice is not trying to "kill" children, it is to terminate pregnancies. There is a difference to many of us "right to choice" supporters. While many of us think that "going to war should be the last resort" We feel also "going to have an abortion should be the last resort."

We don't even agree on when "life" really begins for the fetus. The "Pro Lifers" would have you believe that it starts at the second of conception. Whereas on the opposite end the right to abort a 9 month full term healthy baby is not a crime technically, but morally, it is most certainly a crime whether you are a right to lifer or a right to choice.

A very teeny tiny amount of Pro choice people would actually condone an abortion in the late term of pregnancy for just "convenience". Most people would never do something like that. The biggest problem is when you take away the right to choose in the 6th, 7th,8th, 9th months, before you know it, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th come into play. Then birth control pills, IUDs... The radical right wingers won't know when to stop and they will take ALL of a woman's reproductive rights away.

So, when you post saying that you are on "our" side, do so with sensitivity when you refer to "aborting a child". That just doesn't ring true to most of us as something that any of us really deep in our souls believe in.

Words are powerful as well as you're personal information on this board, HAVE IT REMOVED for your own peace of mind!

Take Care

17. Well.
It rings true for me.

I have never been very big on semantics.

I am tired of the word-play, although it is sacred to alot of people.

I believe three things:

one) you can't kill a soul.
two) abortion may have been the karmic choice of the soul entering the womb
three) god decided that pregnancy happens in a female body. That female is responsible for her body at all other times, and she is reponsible for and SOVEREIGN OVER her body during the time of pregnancy as well. That means no outside input, unless she asks for it.

So I believe life began a hell of alot earlier than "at conception". That is such a giveaway, anyway, I mean, do these people believe in eternal life, or not? And do they REALLY believe that they (sperm 'n'egg donors) created this life, this soul?? That's a little freaking egotistical.
