Liberal media: What is it, and where.
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 07:22 AM by warrior1
What does that mean exactly?

Is it reporting news that contradicts long lived GOP myths?

Is it based on what the GOP viewer's prejudiced concerning the journalist or it's News organization?

Is it based on right-winged journalist propaganda spewed daily over radio of tv?

Are GOP racist?

And can these people be cured of this?

1. It's Brilliant
Have a bunch of neocon news people convince everyone that the media is liberal. The sad part is almost everyone fell for it.

4. Not just the neo-cons
It is all the RepubliCONs out there - they've been parroting the line for a good 30 years now and they say the same thing over & over again and it has now sunk in. Even some Democrats believe it. It's all part of the Big Lie philosphy - if you say something over & over again and loudly, people will start to believe.

2. I can't believe this one stuck
I work in media in the UK and everytime I hear that the US equivilant is overtly liberal, it cracks me up.

I watched Fox News for the first time a couple of months ago and I thought it was a spoof broadcast, like a Saturday Night Live kind of thing. It took me a long time to realise that it was genuine. Admittedly, that's the worst one, but the rest aren't that much different.

I lived with an American during the war last year and she couldn't believe British media. She'd just sit in front of the news open-mouthed saying, "shit, they'd never get away with saying that back home!"

Mind you, it hasn't done us much good in the long run.....

3. The "liberal media" is one of those GOP myths.
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 07:32 AM by baldguy
Just look at how the "liberal media" followed the GOP party lies about Clinton.

You can also read Eric Alterman's book:

7. Repukes phony excuse for wanting that Telecoms act in 1996
They claimed they needed it to even out the media since the three networks were so oblivious biased toward Liberals...yeah right.

But Clinton signed on to that piece of crap, got campaign bucks and the rest is history. They now literally own the media, even networks for that matter.

Clear Channel,Entercom and a couple of others own radio in the US,CC now wants to own all outdoor advertising and their making huge strides in that area also.

9. where:
Air America radio
with a fairly broad spectrum going from moderate (Franken) to firmly left (ie Chomsky as guest at Majority Report).
www.airamericaradio.com

Democracy Now!
decidedly left
(they ask question that upset Clinton)
www.democracynow.org

ZMAG
decidedly left
www.zmag.org

Especially the last two would be extreme-left according to most mainstream media.

The proof is in the eating of the pudding.
O'Reilly calls www.mediamatters.org (not an outlet but a media watch group) a left-wing hate group. Judge for yourself.
