Swift Boat Veterans for Bush!
Mary Beth Cahill writes

I'm interrupting John Kerry's dispatches from the road to tell you about something that will make you angry, but which is important for you to hear.

We knew it was coming: the Bush campaign and several allied right-wing groups are using August to launch a vicious smear attack against John Kerry. They think we're vulnerable this month because while George Bush is still able to raise money for attack ads, Kerry had to stop fundraising at the Democratic convention last week. They're taking this opportunity to go for the jugular.

We need you to join us in this fight today by supporting the Democratic Party.

https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html

The worst of the current wave of attacks is coming from a Republican-funded group called "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth." (I'll call them by a more accurate name: Swift Boat Veterans for Bush.) The group is led by a longtime Republican operative and financed by GOP contributors with strong ties to George Bush. Its function in the overall Republican strategy is this: tear down John Kerry since Bush has no record or vision to run on.

The swift boat ad is full of lies. Thirteen men who never served with John Kerry lie about knowing him and viciously attack his record. It is a new low for the Republicans.

Every time they have attacked us like this, it has only made us stronger. When they ran dishonest attack ads (like the unbelievable new one on the air right now), thousands of new supporters flocked to our campaign to give us the resources we need to fight back on the airwaves.

Now that the general election has begun, they're hoping things are different. They're going to be sorely disappointed because we are not alone. The Democratic National Committee is well prepared to take on this fight.

And therefore I'm asking you: everything you did for our campaign, please do now for our Democratic Party. Give the party the resources it needs to fight against these right-wing attacks:

https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html

The Democratic Party is responsible for putting organizers and volunteers into the field and turning out the millions of votes we need to win. We literally cannot win this election without the party.

https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html

You and I know that if we so much as yield an inch to George Bush and the Republicans this month, we'll live to regret it. In fact, we may live to regret it for four long years. Join with me in supporting the Democratic Party today.

Thank you,

Mary Beth Cahill
Campaign Manager

I can't donate to DNC after the way they have treated Whoopi and Cho, and the anti-war democrats.

5. Me, too!
I donate every month to MoveOn and am not about to donate a thing to the DNC. They've betrayed the liberals of this nation.

4. I Knew It...Yep...$70 million to burn...
When this election is said and done, Mary Beth Cahill will be ranked among one of the finest campaign managers of all time. This lady is the straw that stirs Kerry and has manuevered through a lot of minefields to put her candidate in a strong position.

How disengenuous of Scotty McSpinner to not denounce this smear on Kerry, yet go after the 527s...namely MoveOn. Or last night, Lawrence O'Donnell nailed one of these scumbags with his connections to Scaiffe while these assholes cry about George Soros.

The money is flowing fast and loose from RNC land right now. No surprise DouchVak (my new name for Robert Novak...the Douchebag of Liberty) was the one who was given the major "support" job for Rove, just like he did with Plame. The GOOP is stocking networks 24/7 with their spinners and "friends" to spread lies and distortions to distract from the dismal performance of their own regime.

While I support Mary Beth's appeal to donations to the DNC, and I firmly applaud those who join me in sending monthly checks to MoveOn, may I suggest donations to the many Congressional races that will really mean the difference between a full victory and a shallow one. Many of these races are obscured by the national one but is just as important, or more...especially if you're in a district or near one where there's a Repugnican Congressman who drew 55% or less of the vote in his/her last election. These people are "gettable"...and now's the time to give these people both the financial and moral support they'll need to put on a strong push to November.

Hang tough, my fellow DUers, the truth takes longer than a lie to circulate and I'm starting to see a backlash on the Swift Boat assholes. Sooner or later these bastards are gonna run out of tricks, lies and just exhaust themselves. That's what we have to be ready for.

Cheers!

6. There are also "Dean Dozens" that you can donate to. . .
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 02:29 PM by frankzappa
go to www.democracyforamerica.com

then click onto "Candidates". They are listed state-by-state. Each of them has its own website with the info on how to contribute.

Not all are for Congressional positions, though, some are for state senate, state assembly, town supervisor, etc.

7. Spread The Wealth...
Thanks for the link...we need to help these people as much as we can.

It's great to see both the Kerry campaign and the DNC roll in GOOP-type cash, but it's these candidates that have the biggest mountains to climb. Many are running against not only incumbents but established political machines. They're facing paid patronage foot soldiers who have long taken the vote for granted.

People are stunned when you show interest in their lives and really want to know what they think. Many have never been asked before and there's fertile ground out there to bring in a lot of new and long-term voters if we show a little attention to them.

Cheers...BTW...I found my Inca Roads video last night (old tape from the 80's)...There was FZ along with George Duke...damn I miss him and how his voice in these times.

...now is that a poncho or is that a Sears poncho?

9. The Media loves a fight
They would give Kerry or even Cahill airtime if they were to attack these SBVFB. FREE airtime. And it is a fight we can win.

The media will only cover Kerry when he is allegedly screwing up or if and when he goes into defensive attack mode. Have Bill Clinton write the soundbites (if Cahill can't/won't). This is a smear campaign that seems certain to backfire on Boosh. Use it.
