Can anyone help me write a response to this idiot?

Remember, these are journalists we're talking about. With the exception of opinion writers and columnists, journalists are supposed to be objective, impartial and fair. Their job is to be the referee, not the cheerleader.

...

"It was embarrassing," one editor told me of the anti-Bush reaction. "It's a shame how partisan these things have become. It may just be that a lot of these people don't have a firm grounding in journalism."

It was disrespectful and distasteful.

Things like this help set back the larger cause of bringing racial and ethnic diversity to journalism. Those who want to keep things the way they are - those who don't bat an eye at statistics showing that people of color make up just 10 percent of the Washington press corps and just 12.5 percent of the reporters, editors and supervisors in America's newspapers - will now cite this episode as a justification for not hiring and promoting more minorities.

After all, they'll say, not enough of these people are professionals.

....

2. "These people" clearly did have a grounding in journalism.
What has to be explained is the excessive deference reporters routinely given to this president who is, in fact, an employee of the people.

3. It sounds like a defense for the Sovereign speech...
The audience could have been pure white and they still would have laughed.

4. It seems he makes a lucid argument they were laughing at the laughable
What's partisan about laughing at ridiculous answers? Bush is the one who disrespected them first by coming to the conference completely unprepared.

6. This one is easy based on his closing paragraphs...
..."All week at the conference, I heard minority journalists complain that they're tired of writing about Black History Month and Cinco de Mayo - that they want to cover the serious stories.

Fair enough. But first, they have to get serious about their profession and all that it demands of them."

Spoken like a true bigot and racist, "they" and "them" means all to jerks like this. He selectively leaves out mentioning specific journalists of color, and there are many many such journalists who already meet and even surpass the general qualification that this editor so conveniently imposes to condemn the entire group. Pure fascist racism.

7. I would tell him that their profession demands many things.
One of them is to acknowledge that there is a blathering idiot on stage who is unable to verbalize a coherent thought. And to also acknowledge the real tragedy of the story is that this blathering idiot is the leader of the free world.
