How many people out there are trying hard to educate the public?
Often I am with other Democratic friends and we strike up conversations in stores or restaurants about Bush and the Iraq War. Given that we think Bush has done and is planning to do all kinds of terrible stuff, anyone standing or eating near us gets an earful. We kind of figure that they won't get the truth on the news but they're bound to get a lot of it if they are around us. How many others are doing this sort of thing?

1. same thing here
Of course my hubby is always hoping someone will challenge him so he can have a good debate. Rarely happens. It seems the other can only spew Hannity lines, once they run of pre-digested spots, they can't argue.

2. At every waking moment!
I am compulsively driven, not a preacher but I evoke discussion in a covert fashion....get folks thinking on their own...

3. I Have to Admit I've Given Up
There's only so many times I can point out to the same people that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Or listen to the same people insist that the WMD (whatever they are) will be found eventually.

4. I use my classroom to educate
(some may say indoctrinate--smile). It gives me a bully pulpit--and I use it to explain how evil this administration is and the importance of defeating it. I also like to give historical perspective--I talk about the evil Reagan and Nixon regimes--and the damage that they did to this country.

There is NEVER an hour session where I do not take advantage of my ability to work my political beliefs in. This is what I love most about teaching! I get to help mold society. My kids won't all vote this year--but they will someday! And they influence their parents and many others in their lives.

If you want to do some good--get out there and TEACH!

5. Keep using your pulpit.
It was teachers who turned me away from the conservative doctrine, which my family believed in. Of course today my family would probably be considered raving liberals by the new conservatives.

6. Issues jeopardy
Yes, being overheard is an excellent ice breaker.

Another experiment that seems to be working well is asking questions ala Jeopardy about the issues I think will get to the undecided and Republican voters. People learn by asking questions and then they feel ownership of the answer. Sometimes this makes them realize they are uncomfortable with their answers...

ex: So, how did that tax credit work for you? Did you get theat boat you wanted? Does paying your debt technically create jobs?

Keep up the great work. One voter at a time....
