special Randi Rhodes audio: Rhodes on CNN, Rhodes on "Majority Report"
Last week, Randi Rhodes told Janeane Garofalo and Sam Seder of "The Majority Report" about how she was banned from ever appearing on "Paul Zahn Now" again after she insulted Philadelphia rightwing radio host Michael Smerconish in March by telling Smerconish:

"You don't generate (revenue)...You're number 18 in your marketplace, and you're working. I'm a liberal working for Clear Channel, and I had to be number 1 every single book, (audience ages) 12-plus, number 2, (audience ages) 25-54, which is the big money demo, as you know, in order to keep my job working for them. And I have kept my job through ratings and revenue. And guys like you just are copycats. That's all you've done, was get on the conservative gravy train."

For a transcript of the Paula Zahn appearance (they had a guest host, Heidi Collins), audio of the Paul Zahn appearance, and audio of "The Majority Report" appearance, go to MoveLeft Media.

3. I remember seeing that
It was beautiful. That right there is why I love Randi Rhodes. And it tells you a lot about CNN and the major media in general that they would ban Randi from the show and hire a dolt like Smerconish. We need to write to them and let them know that they're full of shit.

4. Not only would that be in the interest of integrity, it would
also get more viewers for CNN to invite Randi Rhodes on than Michale Smerconish.

6. They're not interested in ratings.
The corporations that own networks like CNN are willing to chance losses at the news division if it means keeping points of view that would harm their overall bottom line out of the public discourse.

7. Corporations are pulled by both money and rightwing politcs.
We see that in the example of Disney.

On the one hand, Disney produced F911.

On the other hand, Disney refused to distribute F911.
