We've all seen the decidedly conservative/liberal web sites...
are there any websites that promote calm discussion of political views between both? Wouldn't that be the ultimate fulfillment of the American political ideal (free and open discussion)?

1. There is plenty of open discussion
it just happens to be very polarized right now. Our president has adopted the most radical agenda in our nation's history, if you haven't noticed...

3. Why what have conservatives been right about?
Progressive ideology has a much better track record at solving actual problems as opposed to conservatism. As an atheist, economic populist and social libertarian the Republican party offers no valid points to interest me. Voting for Bush is extremely binary proposition. The other side had their chance in the 2000 primaries but they chose an idiot.

5. Our goals are pretty objective

raise standards (education, healthcare, etc). Level the playing field that cause social inequities and expand rights and privillages to those in society that do not currently enjoy them.

When I look at the Republican party it appears to completely selfish and and reactionary, how their policies benefit the greatest number of people in society remains a mystery to me.

6. Because they appeal to people on the instinctive level...
What they do doesn't require any deep thought. And unfortunately that's what people go for.... Just watch your local McDonalds drive thru at lunch...

7. I don't think
calm discussion is possible at this moment in time.

When a kid is in danger of falling off a cliff, you yell and get as loud as you have to to get his or her attention.

Republicans are like that kid....
