Attention proud U.S. Olympians: Your country is murdering while you march
...bombing civilian areas in contravention of international law, killing noncombatants, women and children.

When the world boos your flag, please understand why. You might even demonstrate your opposition to what your country is doing. It would require courage, but you would be a hero to millions of people, and the world would know some of us at least have a conscience.

4. Yes it would be wonderful if U.S. Olympians demonstrated opposition to
what the U.S. is doing in Iraq and here at home. But how would they do it? Would they need to refuse to participate in some of the events while there? Would they need to go out with banners protesting the bushes and their doings? It would be wonderful if they could oppose the bush massacres and the bush eradication of democracy in this country. And heaven forbid! would they need to give the bushes the finger as they filed by past them, or stick their tongues out at them? Just, pray tell, how would they do it?

"Thank you to Toni Smith, the young lady and athlete who turned her back on the flag
during the National Anthem, in protest of this immoral and horrendous disaster in Iraq. You
are a real hero. "

9. Yes, I'd love for the athletes
to truly feel free enough to voice their heartfelt sentiments. However, many might let the sound of the cash register/endorsements drown out their conscience.

7. I didn't know Ted Rall posted here!
So nice of you to take a break from bashing Sen. Kerry! (tongue-in-cheek)

"America" is not doing the murdering. It is George Bush, through his paid killers who MUST follow orders, and many of whom have had their enlistments extended numerous times.

To hell with that. As ashamed as I am of what Geroge Bush is doing in OUR names, with OUR tax money, I will never stop being proud to be an American and proud of what it is SUPPOSED to stand for.

A subtle anti-Bush or anti-war symbol by the US players would be cool, though.

8. No, America IS doing the murdering
With Bush at the helm. The soldiers are fighting for America, not Bush.

Still, I agree that it's not in our name, you and I, but that doesn't change the fact that it's the American military killing at the behest of the American president and the American Pentagon.

SHOVE IT! - Drop Bush Not Bombs! - Hero Kerry AWOL Bush
